The Old Mines are the central feature of the Knob, and for many centuries, had been the most productive copper mine in the land. But eventually it was depleted and abandoned. It has since been converted into a settlement largely consisting of Druskai and Mortallen. The Old Mines can be accessed through the sole entrance located at the end of Kara's Cull. The tracks remain but all of the carts were removed, so one has to walk to reach settlement. The upper levels of the mines are largely inhabited by intermingled tribes of Kishoi Moratallen and Korkann Druskai. They tend to stick to their own ways here, and have largely formed a closed economy, only occasionally heading out into the rest of the Knob as desired. Outsiders are usually welcomed openly in the upper levels, and some have joined into these tribes.

The lower levels of the Old Mines are an entirely different story though. Large areas of them have become deeply flooded and monsters from the Warrens have begun invading the mines, hoping to escape to feast on the city folk above. The tribes down here are far less coexisting, often fighting with one another for resources. The tribes here are mostly Aqiv Moratallen and Vethcairn Druskai. They take great pride in fighting back the demons and monsters from the depths, and believe themselves to be the strongest defenders of the land.

The Old Mines are largely forgotten and ignored by the authorities of Zaichaer, and as such, much of the infrastructure within it must be built or earned by someone themselves. Small cottages are built in some areas, others simply adopt caves, and the more skilled have carved halls for themselves.
