The Copper Cut
The Copper Cut is the nicest of the business neighborhoods in the Knob. It begins at the edge of the Bulge, and flows down the cliffs toward the residential neighborhoods. It is among the oldest areas within the Knob and back when the copper mine was producing, it was the wealthy, main street. It still has many of the old, original buildings, kept in great condition, with many of the businesses having survived or rebuilt after the Sundering. Tradition is strong within the Copper Cut, so much so that many who work or live there tend to have strong beliefs of the old style of Zaichaer, before non-human races and mages began to be ostracized.
Many of the restaurants and shops have stood the test of time here, and are often staple favorites. Any major celebrations, parades, fairs and festivals almost always take place along the length of the Copper Cut. There is always something exciting and fun happening in the Copper Cut, particularly with the growing population and diversity of the Knob. Foreign celebrations and cultural traditions are often put on display there in the Copper Cut, and accepted happily by the locals (much less so by the few humans that live or frequent the area, typically).
The Copper Cut does have a few apartment style homes, typically in the upper floors of the shops or restaurants, or set in alleys further back from the main road. It is middle to upper middle class here.
