Florist's Folly

Name: Florist's Folly or Corpse roses.

Habitat: Most forests, sights of wars or other locations where carrion is common

Threat level Medium

Description: A poisonous rose with a carnivorous diet. The plant resembles a rose vine with wicked thorns with many more sprouting vines than most rose plants.

Notable Abilities: Its thorns carry a potent sedative that will render all but the largest of animals asleep within minutes of a single thorn breaking their flesh. The danger comes with this plants ability to sense sedentary food sources. The Florist's Folly lacks any roots and is capable of rolling slowly towards prey that it will attempt to wrap around and root as many of its thorns into as possible. While its poison isn't enough to outright kill usually it will often leave someone unconscious long enough for the thorns to strangle or bleed the life from its unconscious victim.

Slow moving and dependent on their poison an armored foe can easily harvest the plant. They will attempt to escape fires and can be seen rolling away from forest fires in small herds.

Reproduction The Florists Folly leaves seeds in the remains of the creatures it feeds on, the seeds only need about a week to germinate and a month after that to be strong enough to begin preying on rabbits and other rodents.

Size The largest tangles are said to be over six or seven foot tall spheres. most will range in the three to four foot range however.

Reasons to interact The thorns carry a powerful sedative and pain killer useful for surgeries. Purification of the sap makes for a relatively safe narcotic. The Flowers themselves are a desired ingredient for a powerful tea that aids with insomnia.

Recommended Stats Competent Botany or related skill and armor.
