Standing at 5'8” the soldier wears short blonde hair and the beginnings of a similarly colored beard kept neatly shaved as often as his duties allow. Intense blue eyes scan for threats from beneath thick sandy eyebrows. His sharp nose flaring with irritation often above a pair of thin lips chewed with frequent thought.
PersonalityAs the youngest of his brothers, Myles has the most to prove. Filled with unearned bravado he seeks to always be the largest presence in any room that is gifted with his presence. He loves Zaichaer and it's people, and hates it's enemies with a zealous fervor using every bit of power given him to his own ends as much his countries. His ego demands power to back it and the young blue blood has the drive to strive for it.
HistoryThird borne, not unwanted, but necessary neither. Myles was Born the third son of William Maxwell Arnnett the sixth. His eldest brother William Maxwell Arnnett the seventh was the heir to he estate and its ventures. The second brother Byron Craig Arnnett, was groomed to run the families various business ventures and financial investments therein. Seven years the junior of Byron he grew up within the shadow of his elder brothers, free from the expectations they bore but unable to appreciate the fortune he grew rebellious. The loudest and most obstinate of his siblings he cause no end of headaches for his caretakers and parents alike. His mother for her part was kind but ever busy tending to the families many social events, no rest for the matriarch to spend on the least of her spawn.
In his tenth year he finally angered his father to the point that he received his attention. Realizing that his son was growing out of hand he was entrusted to the care of his godfather, his fathers wartime lieutenant and peacetime captain of his personal guard. Myles went from being raised in the Arnnett's stately manner to the decent if ramshackle home of his newfound mentor, Marze. Marze was a hard but fair man, and for the next six years he was more a father to Myles than his own had ever considered being. They weren't an easy six years, he encountered chores for the first time in his life. His hands grew calloused and hard while his elder brothers retained their softness. He grew distant from his family for a time and walked among the people who privilege had passed over.
In these years Myles under the tutelage of Marze became a competent swordsman and began plans to join the military. Marze only encouraged this passion and began introducing the young Myles to all manner of old military acquaintances and friends who further fed his zeal with tales of Zaichaer's might. The young Zaichaeri could not contain his desire to be as grand as the heroes he heard tale of, tho he would never admit it was in part out of a desire to force his family to note his worth. The grand Air and the mechanical divisions held much of the glory of the Zaichari military, but it was the Defense corpse that drew Myles in. To be on the front lines where enemies and glory alike abounded, that was where Myles desired to be.
In his eighteenth year Myles entered the Defense corps, and infantry man with a sword and a shield. The first couple years string on simply enough, constant exercise, occasional bandits, very rare mages. At nineteen Myles took his first life, slaying a bandit, neither guilt nor remorse came to him that night, only the surprise that it hadn't and the realization that men, he included died far to easily.
Witnessing his first allied casualty however reignited the passions that the droll slog of the military had begun to extinguish. In his third year in the Defense corps his unit was dispatched to investigate potential cult sightings. They turned out to be far more than that.
The enemy they faced, servants of some mistlord had it turned out, both surprise and numbers on their side. That and wicked mages, wielders of elemental aether that reduced his comrades to charred corpses around him. Though the might of Zaichaer shown through with timely reinforcements, about three fourths of the detachment Myles had belonged to was gone. He was left with significant burn scars to his stomach and legs. His survival and tales of his bravery he couldn't recall began to propel him forward.
With several of his seniors lost Myles was promoted to an officer within the Defense corps after his recovery. Given a short time to pick from the recruits the Military has to offer, Myles begins his life as an officer on the second day of searing in the year 121. Tempered by reality he has begun to understand the price of his dreams, and the resolve it will require to achieve them
