Carina exhaled slowly and watched the smoke leave her lips. Opium, this time. It was usually what was necessary to even begin to pull the stick out of Petra's ass. She watched her friend from the corner of her eyes, and moved languidly to hand her the hose of the hookah. Zaichaer was rather straight laced, and though it wasn't hard to find drugs in the brass city, she much preferred her highs in Kalzasi. If there was a hookah lounge in Zaichaer better than the space offered by the Velvet Cabaret, she hadn't found it. She had rented them a room, decked in velvet and low-lit.
"Petra." Carina twisted her body just slightly from the booth she had reclined in to face the woman after she'd taken the hose. "Petra, darling. Have you been doing the stretches I showed you?" She propped herself up on an elbow, the question having sprung into her mind out of nowhere. The summoner had always seemed like a ball of stress, and she had spent their last visit together attempting to show Petra the benefits of movement. They had also snorted a substance that Carina still didn't know the name of, and whether or not the the instruction had lasted through the ensuing mania was up for question.
The dancer was all too familiar with the weight of stress and the desire for perfection. That was why she was here. Her life, the existence she had chosen, been pushed into, was a brackish pond of paranoia and expectations. She waded in happily, and she would not have chosen differently if she had been given the choice again. Sometimes, though, her foot got stuck in the mud and she fell under.
That was why she was here.
"They're good for you. Flexibility is good, movement is good." It was a rich statement coming from a woman who chainsmoked and was willing to try nearly any intoxicant put in front of her.
