Name: Flomatoes
Habitat: Any temperate climate with still water (Ponds/lakes)
Rarity: Uncommon
Threat: None to very none
Description: Seemingly the same in appearance to traditional tomatoes, Flomatoes grow at the bottom of lakes and ponds. When the fruit is ripe, it detaches from the plant and floats to the surface.
Biome Role: Fruit producer
Aging & Reproduction: Perennial plants. They die back a bit if their pond freezes over, but grow back vigorously in spring. Harvest occurs in Ash.
Size: They can grow as tall as a pond or lake is deep. They do not branch wide, so no more than a couple feet in diameter.
Abilities and Features: Their fruits are vastly different from the similar tomatoes grown on land. Within a thicker skin, is a thick, tomatoey paste, and incredibly dense, heavy seeds. This paste tastes similar to unseasoned tomato paste and is often used as such. Additionally, if the flomatoes are kept in water, they will not rot or decay.
Cultural Significance (If applicable): None at current time
Reasons to interact: To eat
Recommended Stats: Competent Agriculture to grow, Novice swimming to collect (if needed)
