Name:Midnight Beauty Rose
Habitat:Karnor
Rarity:Rare
Threat:None; Potential superfical injury from its large thorns

Description:A popular breed of “black rose”, Midnight Beauty Roses are an exotic rose cultivar with deep red-violet blossoms that appear black at a distance. It is notable for being one of the only black rose species that most resembles the coveted black hue that many breeders seek to cultivate, as black flowers do not naturally occur in mundane plants. It was created when a mutation appeared in a red rose variety that gave it violet tinged petals, followed by generations of selective breeding that resulted in its distinct dark flowers. It is scentless and has particularly large thorns for a cultivar species, but for many this only adds to the elegant mystique that it evokes.

Biome Role:Ornamental; Appears mainly in Karnor as a locally cultivated species but could potentially thrive in similar environments throughout Ransera. Does not occur in nature and does not tolerate wild conditions.

Aging & Reproduction: The species is propagated by cuttings and it can take roughly 3 weeks to be establish after transplanting, but up to three years before a bush is fully mature and produces flowers. While a young species, it is expected, like the rose species that produced it, to live for decades, if not centuries, when maintained under ideal conditions.

Size:Can grow up to 6 to 8 feet tall

Abilities and Features: Midnight Beauties are mainly ornamental, though its petals are sometimes crushed to create a dark violet pigment that is used in expensive paints and cosmetics.

Cultural Significance (If applicable): The rarity and symbolism of a black rose is appreciated and admired by those that know of it. Midnight Beauties are esteemed as status symbols that display either the skill to maintain such an exotic species or the means to afford its care.

Reasons to interact: Ownership displays status and wealth; can be an interesting and challenging species to maintain; pigments can be derived from petals but these are typically difficult to acquire and expensive; bouquets can make for striking and elegant gifts.

Recommended Stats: Agriculture(Journeyman) or Botany(Expert)to propagate and maintain; Botany/Agriculture(Novice)to have knowledge the species and the history outside of personal experience; Cosmetology/Painting(Apprentice) to create pigments from its petals.
