The journey to the funeral was longer than he expected, especially given he was still trying to wrap his head around everything. He wasn't prepared for traveling so long, but in the end, he sucked it up and trudged on anyway. Coming to the funeral grounds at the family estate Ambrose found himself reeling over what exactly he was going to do.

"What do I say to them? Should I even speak to them at all? Was coming here such a good idea?" he inquired to himself as he wasn't sure if any of this was a good idea. He wasn't sure how he would react to seeing his family in such a manner, mourning him. It was something that hit him as surreal as he never in any of his time as Dreyfus thought he would be seeing his own funeral.

Many of the old money houses were in attendance, faces both familiar and unknown gathered in one place. If he was truly vengeful, he would snatch his father and kill him in front of everyone, but he wasn't sure if his father had anything to do with his mother's death, but there was always suspicion. For now, he watched from a distance, leaning against the trunk of a large tree as the procession made its way down to where he was to be buried. The plot was beautiful, much as to be expected from the family cemetery.

It was a closed casket funeral, as they didn't have a body to truly bury, but the masses in attendance didn't need to know as much. The service began with Aunt Helena opening it with a selection, her melodic singing causing a warmth to fill the vampyre and those in attendance. It was a time that he had seen his family show any form of emotion at all. The usual poker face the Monteliyets were known for shattered and washed away when confronted with the death of a loved one.

He couldn't deny that they coddled him a bit more than he would have liked, and for the longest time, he couldn't fathom why that was. His cousin was just as capable as he was, given he was more so recluse in nature than they would have liked, but never seemed to be the center of their attention. Of all of his relatives, he was surprised that his grandfather was not there, as he was certain that the man if anyone would be in attendance.

It was interesting watching the service, hearing the many folks who knew him speak on his life, who he was as a person, how he had affected their lives in some way. When the final viewing came, he wasn't surprised to see his father finally break down, the man losing everything he held dear to him. First his wife, then his only child. It must have been tough to even sit there and know that your child was never coming home.

My aunts had to usher him away, back to the estate, while his uncles helped with the burial. He could see the pain on their faces, the agony of losing a member of the pack had done to them. It was not something he had seen in them for a long time, and it was quite an eye-opening experience. When he was about to take his leave, he was met by the one man he didn't think he would see before he left.

"It's quite interesting that everyone in attendance was down at the grounds, yet you have been lurking here since the service started." the gruff voice reached his ears as it grabbed his focus, two large wolves coming from behind the elderly man as they came to circle around Dante. "Every face that came to the funeral was a face I knew and recognized, yet your face escapes me." the accusing tone in his voice caused Dante to take a step back, only to be halted by the growls behind him.

It was clear he wasnt going to be permitted to escape. "I will ask you only once, who are you?" the weight of his words, the demand in the tone they carried caused the vampyre's heart to skip a beat, fear settling in for just a brief moment. After clearing his throat, however, Dante looked the elderly man in the eyes with clear conviction and a smile. "Come now grandfather, you've only put me in the ground mere moments ago and have already forgotten me?"

His response didn't go over well to the elder Monteliyet, the song of steel being pulled from its sheath echoing in the space around them, the enclosing approach of wolves behind him. One of the wolves happened to get close enough to smell him, the scent of the vampyre was different but familiar. Moving out from behind him, it came to shift and reform to show a naked male that stood beside the older male, whispering into his ear.

The look of shock and surprise filled Dreyovani's face, and soon afterward, tears began to well up as the elder Monteliyet came to embrace his grandson. "How.....how is this even possible? There was nothing left at the site of that battle, so how could you be alive?" he asked, cupping Dante's face trying to make sure it was no illusion standing before him. There was much Dante wanted to tell him, to explain to him everything that transpired that night, tears welling up in the eyes of the vampyre as well.

"If I could tell you I would, but for now know that I am indeed alive. Through a form of magic, I live. For now, however, I must ask you to keep this between us, as I fear I must leave the city soon, and I'm not entirely sure when I will return. Though when I do return, know that the streets of Zaichaer will run red with blood." Dreyovani looked to his grandson, seeing the fire of conviction in the eyes of the man that stood before him.

Dante didn't have to express what he meant by that, the elder wolf knowing full well what he meant. With a sigh, he composed himself and motioned for Dante to follow him. "Very well, tell me what you need, I'll see to it that things are in place for your return." Dante was surprised at how willing he was to aid him in his endeavor, knowing full well what being compliant with what could only be considered treason meant for him.

There was a lot that he hadn't figured out yet, he had a way out of the city that was for certain, but he didn't know if there would be a way to get back in. "I will need a place of residence upon my return, somewhere out of sight an inconspicuous for the most part. That's the most pressing need at the moment." he stated, folding his hands beneath his chest as he pondered what else he could possibly need from his family's resources.

For now though as long as he had secured a means of hiding when back in Zaichaer, he would be satisfied with that. The two continued to walk until they managed to reach the edge of the estate. "Where will you go now?" his grandfather inquired, concern hinted in his words. Dante placed a hand on the older male's shoulder and gave him a reassuring squeeze. "You needed worry for me, as I will go somewhere that I can perfect my talents both mundane and magical in relative peace. I know have a chance to see this world, to live with relative freedom to make my own choices, for my own agenda and no one else's."

The words seemed to cut deep within the elder Monteliyet, but Dante could see by the look in his eyes that he knew there would be no persuading the man otherwise. "All I ask is that you come back to us in one peace, I feel as though this is the beginning. A storm is coming and I don't know who will survive the impact of it." With those words the elder wolf came to embrace his grandson for what he could only think was the last time.

A lot of emotion was conveyed in that hug, fear of letting him go, the uncertainty of what would come when he returned, but most of all hope that he indeed would return to them, and that things could go back to normal. Dante however knew the path he was setting out on would not be one that was easy. He knew it would be a difficult journey to see his ambitions realized, but it would be worth any danger he put himself in to achieve.

With one final look at his grandfather, he gave his last goodbye.......for now.
