It would be just his luck that the one time he feeds on someone, they had friends who would notice they had gone missing. It was unfortunate as Dante was caught by the other thugs and forced to flee the area he was resting in. Now he was on the run from them, having to steal a horse in order to make his escape. This was not how he planned to find his way into Kalzasi territory but it seemed he had no choice in the matter.

The sounds of his horse galloping was all he could truly hear, that and the thumping of his heart clouding his ears. His poor horse was being pushed to the limit, but it was better than the alternative. Taking a moment he looked behind him, cursing as they were still chasing him. He knew it was just a matter of time before the stolen mount would give out from exhaustion from the way he was pushing it, but he would rather not get caught by them.

Now he was running for his life, a group of angry mortals in hot pursuit behind him. He wasn't certain the horse he was riding could outlast them, as he could see the evidence of the strain he had been placing on the beast. He was running plans through his mind when the beast finally had had enough and collapsed. Being tossed from a horse wasn't the worst pain he had experienced, but it hurt like hell. He rushed to his feet as the pursuers began to file in around him.

Aether began to funnel around his body as he watched the group surround him. Five from the group stepped out first, their weapons directed at him, five threats that needed to be erased if he was to make it to Kalzasi in one piece. Kneeling down he found a rock sharp enough to cut the flesh of his arm, allowing for him to ingest his own blood. Remembering one of the techniques his aunt had shown him he knew he could have a fighting chance against these brutes.

"You are one brave bastard to face us all by yourself. You are gonna pay for what you did to Makari, and the price is unfortunately your life. No one messes with the Onyx Skulls and gets away with it, not even freaks like you. If you know what’s good for ya, surrender now and make this as easy as possible!" one of them barked, causing Dante only to glare at them as he refused to comply.

Without warning, he used his kinetics to close the distance between him and the mortal on the ledge. Taking hold of his face Dante spat his blood onto it as it began to hiss and smoke, and as he fell to the ground, the other foolish humans looked on with horror. Using Corrosion Dante had effectively turned his blood into crimson acid, a tool he found would be effectively helpful when dispatching these vermin.

Kneeling down he picked up the longsword of the male who was suffering from his face being melted off and coated his free hand in his own acidic blood. By combining what skills he had in swordplay and his knowledge of the magic he had obtained, Dante was confident he could handle them, especially if he would recover like his aunt said he would given his new physiology.

Going on the offensive, Dante pulled one of the attackers to him with the flux, the sword pointed to catch the man as it ran him through and keeping that same momentum, Dante tossed his dying body to the side as he engage another, slathering his acidic blood on the man's neck, gargles of agony filling his ears, soon silenced by the sound of his head being lopped off.

Glaring at his next target, he rushed them, a bloody hand stretch out to grab at the elven woman. She recoiled away from him but was simply pulled into his grasp by the use of his kinetic manipulation. The screams of her face being melted by the toxic blood sent chills down the spines of the others. For a moment no one moved, but the leader of the group, an elven woman with a scar on her face urged them to kill him.

As the woman's body was going limp, her life being driven from her, Dante used her as a shield. He took the initiative and sent several thugs flying back as they came at him, using the dead woman gripped in his hands to block incoming blades, and using the one he stole from a dead thug to impale others. Parrying one of the thugs' blade and spun around to catch another across the chest and followed up with another slash across his neck.

More came at him, and because they were moving through the flux around him he could sense where each one was coming from and act accordingly. With each one engaged, he decided to take it up a notch, tossing the dead woman at one of them, and sidestepping another combatant as they lunged forward at him, allowing him to grasp their sword arm by the wrist. In several moments, a splatter of acidic blood enveloped his hand, and thrusting it forward he placed it on the man's chest, the fluid melting through the flesh.

Dante and those he was fighting watched as the warrior dropped their sword and writhed in agony, which caused the vampyre to turn his attention to the others, his right hand being coated in acidic blood and a look of amusement on his face as he charged them. It was definitely the best way he could practice his sword skill but he would make each stroke to the blade count. As he charged the group, two rather large brutes intercepted him. Rolling out of the way of the first one Dante came out of the roll hitting the one in behind the other with a solid downwards slam with the blade.

In that same motion, he would uppercut the blade vertically into the other that he evaded. As he dispatched the two, he found himself disarmed by another, causing the vampyre to blast the brute away with kinetic force, and slathering another's face with his acidic blood. He was no fool, however, as he was surrounded by the last five. He was formulating his plan of attack but as the fates would have it, he wouldn't have to worry about it.

The sound of gunshots, three to be exact, sounded off from out of nowhere. Dante watched three bodies drop to the ground, as the other two looked on in confusion. Using that confusion Dante yanked one of them into his arm, sinking his fangs into the man's neck. Seeing she was outmatched, the ringleader considered this wasn't worth her life. She turned and sprinted off, and as she was about to be out of his sight, Dante heard another shot sound in the distance.

He let the silence settle in now, still gorging on the thug. Moments later he could sense movement, a singular disturbance moving his way. Soon the figure came into view, a young man with black hair. He was holding a rifle in his hand, the barrel smoking still from the shots that were fired. The vampyre's gaze narrowed onto the man, as he could only assume this young life was the one responsible for saving him at the last moment.

"I'm glad I caught up to you. I wasn't sure if I'd make it in time." he noted, checking bodies as he approached, making sure they were dead and putting a bullet in the ones that still clung to life. Dante remained silent as he observed the young man, noting how thorough the mortal was. Finally, he came to stand before Dante, bowing as he introduce himself. "I'm Dimitri, Madame' Childs has instructed me to assist you in your endeavors." his eyes remained adverted as Dante moved closer, finished with the meal he had been feasting on upon the young mortal's arrival. He found himself seeing the last fading memories of the thug as he approached the man.

Taking Dimitri's chin in his hand, he tiled the boy's face upward to look him in the eyes. For a moment, he simply stared into the human's eyes, then smiled and began to walk in the direction of Kalzasi. "Come then, we have much to accomplish." he commanded, he mortal smiling as he holstered his weapon and jogged to catch up with Dante. "What's our first order of business?." the young man inquired looking to his vampyre, Dante catching his eyes as they approached the horses the thugs had left behind.

With a smile, Dante pointed out into the distance. "We head to the city where my ambitions will bear fruit." Saddling up the two rode off, leaving a trail of bodies in their wake.
