Once perhaps Shuai had aspirations to join the skyguard but now no longer as he had found something else he would rather put himself into. However that did not mean he did not follow all the movements of the organization completely or that of their unofficial patron house. He was especially alert for these sorts of events held by them. No Shuai was still not interested in joining in their ranks but he always loved visiting their open houses and how could anyone not like them? They had to use the best to draw in potential prospects so they had to make a show of what to offer in joining them. For Shuai this meant delicious food, welcoming drinks and some exciting company. It was actually the latter which was what he liked the most about these events because normally the ones who failed to get in would be on the search for an outlet to vent their frustrations and those were what he wanted to see. Sometimes it was a random beatdown on an unfortunate bystander but the most exciting of all were the duels for the most bizarre of excuses. Exciting!

So as he had with each open house he had the time to attend, Shuai made his way to the Mistveil Keep in the most boring and plain clothes he could find. He used to get some of the more worn clothes so that people would believe he was a potential recruit who wanted to change his life by joining the organization with the added benefit of them avoiding him because they believed he had no prospects but he found that sometimes it also drew in unwanted attention from the more eager recruiters who wanted someone new to join them so they can give the message to the rest of Kalzasi that anyone could try to join and get in to serve their country. The plainsclothes would be indeed better then since it meant that he could blend in with the rest of the boring people who were going to be rejected anyway, not for their lack of trying in actually doing the paperwork to try and get their application accepted unlike Shuai who just faked it.

Come to think of it he had attended these open houses quite often already. What if someone might recognize him as a for who he was? A person repeatedly joining the event with no actual intention to join the skyguard. This was not right and he should have outgrown this childishness of his by now. Not to mention as a noble, how is he not ashamed of mooching off the food and drinks for the people who were actually interested in joining the organization? But that was how it was right? Shuai had no interest in the skyguard or the people wanting to join them, just the people who would fail and what they would do next and that is why he could still without shame attend these events, like a poor commoner looking for a handout.
