[Quest]- A fully moderated thread that will be directed and overseen by Paragon. A starter for the thread will be provided. Once the allotted amount of players listed have posted to the thread, it will be closed to all other entries. If players see an event listed and would like to make their interest known, please send a PM to one of the city moderators here on the forums (not Discord).
[Prompt] - A written prompt will be provided for interested participants. Any and all who desire to participate in this event, please get with Paragon. A starter for the thread will be provided. A prompt is different from a moderated thread in that the premise of the scenario is provided, players are left to determine the outcome of their own volition. However, a moderator can step in to offer a creative nudge where appropriate.

Change has come to the City of Brass. The High City of the Northlands unites under new leadership and makes clear its intent to protect both its citizens and all of Karnor against the tyranny of reckless and wanton use of magic. The winds of Fate are blowing. To what heading? Time will tell.
First Week: A quiet coup d'etat takes place among the highest echelons of Zaichaer’s government. First Minister Astrid Kelgarde, with the support of several of Zaichaer’s highest military officials and the Imperial Inquisition, unseats Adrian Kane as Grand Marshal.
- Grand Marshal Kelgarde makes public a terrible scandal exposing the deposed Kane’s government by revealing terrible experiments that had been conducted upon Zaichaeri citizenry. These experiments, done in an effort to transform less privileged citizens into monsters, were set to be unleashed upon the populace in order to ferment greater fervor.
- Grand Marshal Kelgarde commits her regime to protecting the Zaichaeri way of life and the purity of its morals, issuing assurances that they will get to the bottom of figuring out all who were responsible for such heinous crimes. The former Chief Science Officer is pinned as responsible for unleashing a terrible biotoxin against their neighbor Kalzasi, leading to the death of the reigning king there and the disappearance of its crown prince.
- Grand Marshal Kelgarde reveals that, despite numerous attempts to immediately remedy the awful tragedy, their attempts at diplomacy have gone unanswered.
- She publicly denounces several prominent families, seizing their assets toward the good of Zaichaer. She praises the Dornkirk family for its commitment toward the good of the public, service through duty. Air Commander Brenner Dornkirk is appointed to the position of First Minister of State, for his continued history of intense diplomatic efforts. He is lauded for his bravery during the terrible tragedy as he attempted to fight the assailants that fell upon their neighbors. Stefan Dornkirk is appointed as the new Chief Science Officer of Zaichaer, for his role in uncovering the terrible toxin and ghastly experiments being conducted at the behest of Adrian Kane.
Second Week: Grand Marshal Kelgarde reveals that continued attempts at diplomacy to avoid open war have failed. Kalzasi is convinced that Zaichaer is committed to destroying it despite the criminals responsible for their suffering having been brought to justice. She decries their warmongering as an attempt to vilify the countless innocents who want to leave their neighbors in peace. She further reveals that Zaichaer’s ambassador and the Chapter of Reconciliators, who exist in Kalzasi to -help- the city defeat the many evils it faces, have been either detained, wrongfully killed, or are missing.
- Zaichaer issues a sharp demand that its citizens be released from detainment in Kalzasi. It calls upon allies to place heavy sanctions upon Kalzasi until its demands are met.
- Grand Marshal Kelgarde issues an order that all armed forces are to be placed into a posture ready to defend Zaichaer from attack.
- The Riverland Corps is ordered to assess the status of Zaichaer's stockpiles.
- The Engineering Corps is ordered to step up manufacturing and outfitting operations.
- The Air Defence Corps is mobilized.
Glade 32, 122: The Spring Thaw comes. With it, uncertainty as Zaichaer prepares to defend itself against the fiends in Kalzasi who refuse to listen to reason and rebuke all attempts at diplomacy. [The registry will be updated with more events on April 1, 2022.]
My fellow Zaichaeri,
The past few seasons that have befallen our humble city have tested us in ways that I never would have imagined. Between the horrors unleashed by the Red Witch and the many brave patriots who have perished attempting to apprehend her, to the horrendous crimes committed against our own citizenry by a corrupt and villainous official, we have been pushed to our limits. But in the light of a new dawn, I make a solemn vow to restore the sanctity of our sacred union and reaffirm my administration's dedication to serving you, our people.
Our neighbor has suffered a great tragedy, it is true. To call it otherwise would be to ignore the plight of our fellow man. That is not the way of Zaichaer. Since our founding, we have been dedicated to protecting the whole of Karnor against terrible evils. From fighting off the Graveplague, to expelling wicked fiends from our midst, to quelling the vile machinations of mages who believe they are above the rule of law. Time and again, Zaichaer has proven that it is always willing to go the path of defending the common man over serving more selfish interests. My predecessor forgot that.
Despite bringing criminals responsible for collaborating with the nefarious pirates who visited tragedy upon them, our neighbor is too blinded by its quest for conflict to see reason.
Know this, my fellow Zaichaeri, it is the mission of this administration to protect you. You who are innocent of any crime, who long greatly to see only the continued peace and prosperity of all of Karnor, we will not let you suffer the wrath of a regime who refuses to acknowledge that innocence.
To the brave men and women who would aid us in defending innocent lives, we welcome you. We will remain strong.

Glade 1: Ranseran New Year Celebration
Weather: Cool temperatures. Clear skies.
Inhabitants across the world come together to celebrate the beginning of the Ranseran New Year. Considered a national holiday, it is a day of rest and fun for all residents of Zaichaer. The Army of Zaichaer puts on a parade, the Air Defense Force arranges for aerial exercises in a show of patriotism and merriment. Fireworks are released and festivals are abound across the city and its territories.
Glade 8: Crimes of Sedition
Weather: Cool temperatures. Clear skies.
Convicted of the practice of wielding magic and unlawfully using it to undermine the authority and sovereignty of Zaichaer, a public execution is carried out at the Plaza of the Presidium. The guilty is sentenced to burning at the stake. The guilty, in their agonized death throes, screams a conspiracy that elicits a militant response in the city. All authorized practitioners of magic are called upon to be investigated by the Convocation of Minds as an inquisition is launched to find dissenters. [Open Prompt]
Note: Any and all players who actively hold a permit allowing them to practice authorized magic, will be investigated for loyalty to the State of Zaichaer. Players actively wielding magic of any sort who do not carry a permit must be extra cautious or risk being discovered by city authorities and face imprisonment. The inquisition will continue until Glade 30.
Glade 17: Water Trouble
Weather: Cool temperatures. Light rain.
The residents of the East End are given a Water Safety notice. The piping in a central part of the East End infrastructure has fallen into a state of disrepair requiring city engineers to shut down part of the water system's filtration mechanisms. Residents are advised that exposure to untreated water can lead to sickness and proper home decontamination procedures should be observed. The infrastructure is restored on Glade 21.
Glade 23: In Sickness and Health
Weather: Cold temperatures. Heavy rain.
A noticeable trend in sickness has taken root in the East End. Possibly linked to the temporary failing of the water safety infrastructure. Residents report feeling feverish, body aches, and severe coughs that if left untreated will progress to pneumonia. Edgart's Clinic in the East End receives an uptick in visitors. The clinic reaches out to the community seeking capable volunteers. [Open Prompt]
Glade 30: Notice of Treason
Weather: Cold temperatures. Light rain.
Several homes across the city of Zaichaer are raided. Residents are hauled off and brought before the Hall of Reconciliation. These individuals are tried and convicted of Treason and Sedition in the Unlawful Use of Magic to undermine the sovereignty of Zaichaer. The trial is open to the public. [Open Prompt]
Glade 31: Crimes of Sedition
Weather: Cool temperatures. Clear skies.
Gathered at the Plaza of the Presidium, a public burning at the stake is held for those found guilty of Treason and Sedition.
Glade 43 to 50: Brewer's Day
Weather: Warm. Clear skies.
City breweries and vineyards open up their doors to the public in preparation for Brewer's Day celebrations. A unique tradition in Zaichaer where pubs, restaurants, taverns and inn's all welcome and encourage drinkers and celebrants from all walks of life. From the East End to the West End, the drink flows generously for all involved. Brewer's Day, which officially falls on the 50th of Glade, commemorates the city's successful beer and wine industry.
Glade 50: In Sickness and Health
Weather: Warm. Clear skies.
Edgarts Clinic petitions the State for assistance in treating residents in the East End. The petition is refused. Citing a lack of evidence for public health concerns. Edgart is taken to the Hall of Reconciliation to politely discuss his concerns with State authorities. The remaining staff at the clinic send out a request to the community for more assistance. Glade 70: Summit of the Cities
Weather: Warm. Clear skies.
Grand processions arrive from each of the City-States of the Northlands of Karnor for the annual Summit of the Cities. High profile representatives of each of the sovereign territories of Karnor convene in the Palace of the Grand Marshal in order to discuss the state of affairs across the North. The city militants are on high alert given the amount of important figures convening in the city.
Glade 78: Crisis at the Summit

An ambassador from one of the Free Cities is found dead. An investigation is launched. [Moderated. 0/3]

The spring season draws to a close, ushering in Summer. Searing brings with it warm temperatures and a hope for bright days and joyous times.

Searing 1: In Sickness and In Health
Weather: Cool temperatures. Clear skies.
Sickness continues to spread through the impoverished areas of Zaichaer. Speculation on the exact cause of the disease is debated in the medical circles of the city. Edgart, the city's most prominent Healer, never returned from his visit to the Hall of Reconciliation during Glade. This has left many highly concerned. Polite inquiries with the Reconciliators return with Edgart having left the Hall after a productive discussion with city authorities on Glade 50. [Prompt]
Searing 15: Riverland Festival
Weather: Cool temperatures. Clear skies.
The Riverland Corps of the Zaichaeri Military is hosting a festival to display the bountiful success of its great achievements! Citizens are invited to participate in the festivities which include a carnival, music, food contests and opportunities to win prizes for displays of sportsmanship. Additionally, the Riverland Corps invites all aspiring logisticians and those with a mind for resource management to approach an officer and discuss how one can best contribute to society! Searing 30: Army Parade and Celebration
Weather: Warm temperatures. Clear skies.
Zaichaer needs you! The Army of Zaichaer arranges for an elaborate parade filled with dazzling floats, marching drills, and displays of military prowess and ceremony. Citizens from across the territory are invited to witness the grandeur of Zaichaer's men and women in uniform. There will be contests of strength and endurance, there will be derby races for the cavalry, and there will be marksmanship contests for those who can wield a rifle. All are welcome! Those interested in serving their country with honor and dignity need only approach one of the Army Officers and speak about joining the ranks of Zaichaer's finest! Concludes Searing 40. Glade 45: The Science Faire
Weather: Cool temperatures. Light rain.
A perfect day to go to the in-door science faire! Hosted at the Greater Institute of Zaichaer, all scientific and academic minds are welcome to showcase their achievements before the Engineering Corps! Officials of the Engineering Corps are spreading their arms wide open and eagerly welcoming Zaichaer's brightest minds! Those interested in having their inventions or contributions reviewed by the Board of Engineering can submit them to the Institute in advance. The most competitive entries will be reviewed by the Chief Science Officer of Zaichaer himself! Lucky winners will be afforded entry into the Hall of Inventors and a commission into the Engineering Corps. Concludes Searing 55. [Open Prompt or Prompt]

The Air Defense Corps is putting on a grand display of aerial achievement! Pilots, would-be or otherwise, are encouraged to register with the ADC Air Traffic office for a chance to fly with the best of Zaichaer's aviation teams! Citizens will be afforded the opportunity to tour select vessels and given a chance to see the glorious State from on-high! Additionally, the Air Defense Corps is welcoming all able bodied and capable men and women! Searing 80: The Grand Marshal's Parade

The Grand Marshal of Zaichaer conducts a parade through the main plaza of the city leading up to the Presidium. He will give a rallying speech addressing the State of Affairs for the High City and its humble allies. Citizens are graciously invited and encouraged to attend. [Open Prompt or Prompt]
Searing 91: Season's End Vigil
Weather: Warm temperatures. Clear skies.
Paying homage to every soul lost in defense of the Great City of the North, the Grand Marshal presides over a memorial to close out the summer season. Candles and lanterns are lit in the evening as the whole of Zaichaer honors the bravery, selflessness and dedication its lost sons and daughters have forever shown despite the odds. Ash 1: In Sickness and In Health
Weather: Warm temperatures. Light rain.
The sickness afflicting many of the impoverished areas of Zaichaer has finally spread to some of the more well-off areas in the West End. The sickness presents with flu-like symptoms that progressively worsens until it destroys lung tissue causing bloody coughing and pneumonia. Healthy individuals, those who are hale and hearty, are not as heavily affected by the disease. However, those who are predisposed to illness, the elderly, infants, and those living in impoverished conditions experience a disparate ravaging of the disease. [Open Prompt]
Ash 4: Heist and Hijinks
Weather: Cool temperatures. Heavy rain.
The Central Bank of Zaichaer has been robbed. It has left authorities baffled. The Guild of Coins, the governing authority for many of the worlds banking institutions, has been left dumbfounded. Their security measures were bypassed and one of the high end vaults has been successfully broken into. This has led them to believe it was an inside job. The bank is offering a reward for anyone who can recover what was stolen or who can deliver the culprits to justice. [Quest. 0/2. Contact Paragon for more guidance.]
Ash 7 - Drowned Onions
Weather: Cool temperatures. Heavy rain.
Sponsors of this event put an open container of water outside of their home or business. They drop in a bunch of onions with the onions' tunics removed. One of these onions should have its scallion intact and tied around a prize. Participants must bob for an onion using only their mouths, one attempt per sponsor. If you fail to get the prize, you must eat your onion whole, on the spot. If you find the prize, the sponsor eats the onion. Many people have been doing this for years, and the prizes have become a sort of collectable set. [Open Prompt]
Ash 13 - The Cider Dance
Weather: Cool temperatures. Heavy rain.
Cider producers tend to host this event in large, open areas around Zaichaer. They set up wide barrels filled with mushy, cider apples. Dancing partners are invited to roll up their pant legs and hike up their skirts and dance barefoot in the mush, together, as a performance for onlookers. If a dancing pair is able to fully crush the cider apples to the satisfaction of the cider maker, then typically that batch is named after them, or they are allowed to name it. [Open Prompt]
Ash 24 - Chili Fest
Weather: Warm temperatures. Clear skies.
Each neighborhood in Zaichaer holds their own Chili Fest, with chili cook offs, tastings, barbecues, and the like, largely centered around the recently harvested beans and beef. Massive potlucks are extremely common as well. [Open Prompt]

The Order of Reconciliation dispatches a contingent of Watchers and Minders to Kara’s Cull in the Knob. They follow reports of suspicious activity. The neighborhood is carefully infiltrated. [Open Prompt]
Ash 34: Retribution and Reconciliation
Weather: Cool temperatures. Clear skies.
Seven Watchers and five Minders are missing. The group sent into Kara’s Cull in the Knob has not returned and the neighborhood has gone eerily silent, with the streets largely empty. Ash 38 - The Flying Pumpkins
Weather: Cool temperatures. Clear skies.
Within the Knob, people purchase a pumpkin from one of the many vendors, and attempt to throw it the furthest off the cliffs of the Copper Cut. The Mortallen of the Old Mines have become the unofficial distance checkers of this event and take it very seriously. It is believed this is because they choose not to participate and are satisfied with the smugness knowing their kind would always win. Pigs are often brought into the neighborhood to eat the remains, but they must often compete with the Grackles. [Open Prompt]
Ash 45 - A Lover's Turnip
Weather: Cool temperatures. Clear skies.
On this day, it is considered good luck for someone with romantic inclinations to carve a turnip in the likeness of the person they are attracted to (or are currently in a relationship with) and hide it in a place that only the person will find it. If they find it, it means they are more likely to end with the person who carved it. If anyone else finds it first, then it means they should not come together for this year. [Open Prompt]
Ash 53: Mistbegotten Were’s
Weather: Cold temperatures. Fog.
The Dread Mists have come to Zaichaer and the surrounding areas. Citizens are advised to stay in their homes and to wait out the fog. While it is believed to be a low grade manifestation, authorities advise exiting the safety of the indoors at your own risk. But in the silence there comes a howl and any who step out into the fog know…there’s something in the Mist. [Open Prompt]
Ash 57 - Don't Hide the Carrot
Weather: Cold temperatures. Fog.
On this day, Zaichaeri are expected to work a carrot into their public attire somehow. Some do so without taste for fashion sense, but many try to do so in artistic and praiseworthy ways. Those who fail to wear a carrot are supposed to be called out and if proven true, then pinched. [Open Prompt]
Ash 60: Ghost Town
Weather: Cold temperatures. Fog.
Reports come in that the township of Weissberg has sent out a call for assistance. The Dread Mists still linger and obscure most activity. The military and the Order of Reconciliation call upon brave souls within their own ranks and among the populace to answer the call for aid. [Prompt]
Ash 69 - Kraut Fest
Weather: Cold temperatures. Fog.
On this day, Zaichaeri are expected to host open meals with neighbors, or block parties, in which many varieties of sauerkraut, boiled cabbage, potatoes, and sausages are made available. Wealthy families may sponsor an event on their own, but often groups of middle class or lower class families will host them. Many of these individual events compete to make the largest pot of warm sauerkraut, spreading the smell for miles. [Open Prompt]
Ash 72: The Obelisk Tolls
Weather: Cold temperatures. Fog.
On the 72nd of Ash, alongside the appearance of the Wraithplague in Kalzasi, a loud ringing bell was heard across the entirety of Karnor, equally loud regardless of where the listener might be located. On the 73rd of Ash, reports from spies in Zeraphesh came into Zaichaer that the Obelisk that had long been inert now appeared to be Pitch Black in color. [Quest, Contact Aegis]
Ash 82 - Final Slaughter
Weather: Cold temperatures. Clear skies.
On this day, many of the Zaichaeri livestock farmers harvest the final, readied animals of their herds before preparing for winter. Typically these beasts are auctioned off at higher prices than normal, as a way to help support local farmers and get them through the winter days. [Open Prompt]

Cecil Voger is looking for assistance with a very interesting dilemma. He has put out a bounty for anyone with skills to get rid of “vermin” to give him a helping hand. [Prompt]
Ash 91: Season’s End
Weather: Cold temperatures. Cloudy skies.
The Ash season comes to a close, bringing with it the chill of winter. Frost has begun to cling to buildings and hearth fires are being lit to keep the populace warm. The year is drawing to a close and with it, a great deal of turmoil that has beset the City of Brass.
Ash 91 - The Swap
Weather: Cold temperatures. Cloudy skies.
On this day, huge market-esque stalls pop up all around Zaichaer, typically in the middle to lower class areas. But these stalls sell no goods, but rather offer an exchange. They have collections of jarred produce from the entire year, ranging from pickled vegetables, jams and marmalades and preserves, sauces, etc. It is societally agreed upon that these must've been produced within the year. People swap these goods from their collections, so as to have a more diverse stock of food for winter available to them. [Open Prompt]
