The Obelisk

LOCATION
At the exact center of the Imperial Plaza stands the Obelisk, a black pillar of obsidian-colored stone that stretches nearly 50 feet in the air. Across its surface is a wrapping script of runic letters that are unlike any pictograph or work of scrivening currently seen in Ransera. At its base is a circle of stones linked by chains made of a similar black stone that connects to a point at the base of the Obelisk, and just beyond these stones is a small wall that prevents pedestrians from getting too close, though that is not a common occurrence. The Obelisk itself gives off a foreboding air to those who draw too near, and because of this shops, merchant stands, and all official buildings were constructed a significant distance from it. The only individuals that are known to walk up to the Obelisk itself are members of the Inquisition, and they do so seldomly and often when there are few people present in the plaza.
