With the company of Elinora though, they wade through the Midden to sneak into Kalzasi, and that part of the story leads Rickter to meet Patrick in the end. The story between them also starts to emphasize on mutual understanding through similar experiences, since Rickter is going through the aftermath of a broken Bond between his previous Bondmates.
