Located on Willoby Street, the Black Scales is a small shop found along the street leading from the Grand Central Station. The shop itself is made of dark brick, with large windows which showcase a small array of items such as necklaces and rings which can be found inside. A sign hangs over the dark oak door with a picture of a coiled serpent, the name of the shop written in curling letters "Black Scales".

Inside the shop is a single room with a door hidden by a curtain at the very back. Along the walls and at the center of the room are glass cases of varying sizes and shapes, each containing a small selection of items for sale. Despite its name, the Black Scales is always well lit, making the items in the cases sparkle and shine at all angles. Rings, necklaces, earrings, and more can be found, and in the back is a small shelf with rolled-up scrolls, each of which is tied with a black ribbon and a tag with details of the scroll's abilities. The shop is officially recognized by the Order of Reconciliation, and the writs to do business in Zaichaer are prominently displayed on the back wall of the shop behind the central display cases.
