The night was alight by the moon as the vampyre stood on the rooftops, illuminating his silhouette with a menacing overtone.

his discerning gaze bearing down on the patrols of the reconciliators below. It seemed that the city had stepped up its security since his last visit. This time however Dante was here for a different kind of visit. Dressed in his armor, he patiently awaited his chance to begin.

Leaning over the ledge of the roof he watched as the patrolman scurried about making their rounds. Taking a sip of the crisp night air, he observed as they would come and go, changing shifts, and going about their business. Feeding had become a mundane task, but it was all a part of the process. His main concern was making sure no one saw him as he fed, as he didnt want to create a massacre so soon.

As Dante continued to watch Dimitri came to rest at his side, the vampyre looking over with a glance at the human, and patting his head. "Kill anyone who gets too close." Dante whispered, stepping off the ledge, allowing himself to plummet to the ground. With a stretch of his hand below him, he cushioned his fall with a push within the flux. The sound of force hitting the ground echoed through the alleyway.

The noise was enough to catch the attention of a lone reconciliator, which Dante saw and quickly found himself going to hide within an abandoned shop. The reconciliator was in hot pursuit and Dante was glad about it, as he was hungry. The moment he crossed the threshold, the vampyre had gripped him by his throat, and in a spinning turn, pinned him to the wall. Dante covered his mouth in order to stifle his screams and yelling, though he stared intently at the poor soul.

He was young, possibly 24, and rather handsome. But his looks wouldn't stop Dante's hunger, and baring his fangs, Dante feasted on the young man's blood.

Lit only by the moon's soft glow, the streets of Zaichaer were quiet aside from the footfalls of the reconciliators. There were more of them recently. Something was rumbling in the city, he could feel it but not place it. For a fledgling vampyre, this was…annoying. Dealing with one of them was largely fine, but lone patrollers had become less and less common as the days flit by.

Vergil used to accompany him when he'd go out to feed, though as time passed, the older man's schedule as a surgeon and diagnostican kept him fairly busy. Sometimes, their time availability simply did not align, much as this was disappointing to Hector. Tonight was one such night.

Dressed in dark clothing with a hood to cover the light color of his hair, the elf would appear to be almost swallowed whole by thick, black fog as he crept through alleyways and small corridors. Undulating even if he stood still, the fog was thick and opaque like spilt ink. His aidolon, one he had so lovingly granted the nickname Tirspi, was a being composed entirely of this eerie shadow. When Hector hunted, he instructed the spirit to surround him, granting him both a modicum more stealth and a haunting appearance. Few would recognize the fog for what it was, and even if they did, the unknown power of a spirit was enough to spook many on its own.

He and his spirit were as one when they moved, shadows stalking in the night's darkest depths. Cutting through an alley, he heard the slightest sounds of a scuffle from within a closed store. With senses heightened both innately from his vampirism and the use of the Vitalis spell Adrenosis, he was able to hear things as subtle as the drop of a pin. The movement caused him to freeze and then– blood. Though in this case subtle, its scent was hard to miss...especially so to a hungry vampyre.

There couldn't have been a real fight. No, there was simply not enough sound…not enough blood spilt. A bounty hunter? Hired killer? Perhaps…another vampyre? Curious, and with only one way to find out, Hector cautiously moved around the side of the shop.

In the softest of whispers, "Tirspi, scout inside, will you?"

Command given, the fog drifted away from the mage's body and collected into a puddle of ink low to the ground, subtly shifting with the shadows cast by the moon. Seeping through the cracks in the door, the encroaching fog spread itself wide across the floor of the room, blotting out any semblance of light cast upon it. Inside, it saw three people. Satisfied with its ability to answer the Summoner's question, it retreated back to him.

Surrounding Hector once more, the subtle chiming of bells drifted through the air, incoherent whispers entwined with each note.
"ₜwₒ ₕᵤₘₐₙₛ, ₒₙₑ ᵥₐₘₚyᵣₑ. ₒₙₑ ₕᵤₘₐₙ ᵢₛ bₑᵢₙg ᵤₛₑd ₐₛ fₒₒd…ₜₕₑ ₒₜₕₑᵣ ᵢₛ ₛₜₐₙdᵢₙg by, dₒcᵢₗₑ, ₛᵤbdᵤₑd. ₘᵤₛₜ bₑ fᵣᵢₑₙdₗy ₜₒ ₜₕₑ ᵥₐₘₚyᵣₑ…ₒᵣ ₕₐₚₚᵢₗy ₐwₐᵢₜᵢₙg ₜₕₑ ₛwₑₑₜ ₑₘbᵣₐcₑ ₒf ₜₕₑ ᵥₒᵢd. Wₕₐₜ ₛₐy yₒᵤ?" It kept its tones quiet, though it's not like anyone would recognize what sounds it made as speech other than its master.

Lavender eyes narrowed in thought.
"The blood bag will probably be drained soon…distract the other man, I want to talk to the vampyre." Hector kept his voice as quiet as he could while still staying audible.

Command given, the spirit did as it was told, suffusing back into the building. The shadows spun like tendrils around Dimitri, wrapping him in a blanket of interwoven, vine-like shadows. The moment over half his body was surrounded, he would begin to hear whispers. At first, they were impossible to understand. The spirit dug its claws into the man's mind; it sought whatever he feared most, sifting through memories one after the next. It only took a few ticks of the clock to read him.

It was then that the whispers would become coherent; the chorus of voices used what the aidolon had learned from his mind to taunt him. It pulled things from the deepest corners of his memory; his darkest moments, his irrational fears, anything still haunting him. It reminded him of mistakes he made, spun prophecies of horrors personal to him and wove convincing lies into a terrifying tapestry of layered voices. At the same time, Dimitri would begin to feel paranoia slowly boiling to the surface while the fog encroached upon his face and obscured his vision.

Outside, Hector waited about thirty seconds before he moved. Standing upright, he walked around the store and ended up coincidentally using whatever entrance the other Vampyre had ducked into earlier. With confident steps, almost uncharacteristically so, the fledgling strode in, expecting to see somebody he'd recognize. Pretty much all of the city's vampires were Menders like him.

Except the man who stood there feeding was somebody he'd never seen in his life. While such a thing was definitely a shock, Hector didn't appear to be bothered at all. With a look of intrigue on his features and a curious quirk to his head, he spoke.

"You're not local…are you? How have I never come across you before?" His voice was bright but soft in texture, something like the smoothness of suede.
It was somewhat naive of him to assume a stranger wouldn't be hostile in this scenario but he was always one to indulge his curiosity and parts of him just didn't care.

Dante was so enthralled in his feeding that he didnt notice the footsteps as they entered. Why would he though, it's not like he heard Dimitri fire off a shot at someone, si was none the wiser that a figure had encroached on his feeding. Dante was starting to notice that blood had different flavor notes depending on who he feasted on. The young help more rich, sweeter tasting blood than those of middle age or older.

When the voice hit his ears, Dante stopped immediately, glowing fluorescent red eyes peering over his shoulder at the figure. It seemed the vampyre was forever doomed to have people finding him at his most vulnerable moments. His body tense, Dante remained silent, still in movement as he processed what was asked. That question held no fear but curiosity as if he knew that he was in the presence of a vampyre. He was either a sympathizer like Dimitri or one himself.

Running a hand through his hair, Dante finally turned to face the man, his glowing eyes still trained on the man as he leaned back against the wall, covering himself in shadow so that only his eyes could be seen. The thud of the man he was drinking from echoed within the room. "I was born and raised here, I used to be a reconciliator. That was until I was given Vitalis by my aunt, and reborn as a vampyre. Granted I did take a season to gather myself in Kalzasi, I have come home for the time being."

He chuckled at his own words, finding the amusement in them if only for a moment. "The human that was guarding this area, is he alive?" Dante asked, his tone laced with bubbling malice that would indicate that if harm had come to the human, then this would be a very short exchange, vampyre or not.

"A reconciliator, huh…? Figures, then– we run in rather different circles. Of which…I'll keep secret." Hector spoke without wavering; he didn't trust sharing his affiliations to this stranger if he was ever a mage hunter. Even if a vampyre now, a practitioner of magic himself, some old habits can be hard to kill off and people are often hypocrites. "I will say that we share the same mark, at least. Both of us! Gifted!" This time, he spoke with a smile, tone notably brighter. After some consideration, the elf spoke again. "Although mine wasn't given by family...he's...more of a friend, at this point." There was obvious affection in his voice, but for some reason, it sounded...misplaced.

It was then that the other shed his lighter tone. He spoke of his lookout: the human Hector had sent his aidolon to blind and torment. The man must be close with this strange vampyre or, perhaps, a servant with skills that would be...expensive, maybe even tedious, to replace. "You mean the only other human nearby?" Hector said, punctuating the sentence with a laugh. "I won't lie; I was VERY tempted to take him for my own sustenance. I assume that one there is empty, yes?" As he talked, he gestured to the drained man on the floor. With a wide grin and an expression of almost childlike delight, "No need to worry yourself. He is fine! I just…sent another friend to play with him, that's all. Shouldn't be any worse for wear…unless he is particularly weak in spirit." The young mage giggled. "Anyways, given we can remain amiable, I'll free him." With all that said, he recalled his aidolon to his side with another cast of summon.

At the flex of aether, a light-consuming void billowed outward from the ground around the fledgling's feet. The obtenebration of his form happened slowly, inky black fog swirling upwards, cloaking him further in darkness.
"My friend I mentioned– a spirit! This fog!" The elf's enthusiasm remained fully intact.

As if to echo that sentiment, the spirit's voice rang out with the bright chiming of small bells and sibilant whispers– all mischievous in tone. There was something inherently unnerving about the mere presence of this Eldritch creature, and even though composed of black clouds, it had an undeniably ravenous aura too it.

The vampyre looked on at the soul before him his crimson orbs never fading from the male figure. His words seemed to hint that whoever he was, he was not keen on talking to someone who used to be a reconcilator. He would let that thought sit in the background of his mind as he made more pressing observations and inquiries. However, his aloofness switched up quickly when he regarded them both as gifted.

It was clear this one was fond of other vampyres, and seemed to adore the fact that they were such. Dante's demeanor remained calm, however when the stranger mentioned he thought about feeding on Dimitri, the vampyre clenched his fist. Unfortunately, it was the hand that still held the head of the drained reconciliator as it squelched in his grip as it was crushed. Dimitri was important to the vampyre, not only as a valuable asset but as someone he felt he needed to protect given that he sympathized with vampyres.

To his relief however, Dimitri was unharmed, as the vampyre stated he was having someone keep the human occupied. Curious eyes watched as the man made a gesture, noticing the flux of aether moving as something seemed to seep through the floorboard and under the cracks of the empty shop. A black fog came billowing up and around the other vampyre and Dante quirked a curious brow.

He then heard the frantic footsteps of Dimitri as he came bursting into the room, his rifle already trained on the figure and the cloud of black fog. "M....my apologies, one moment I was watching the perimeter, the next minute I was enveloped in a black haze and saw......things." he whispered, Dante noticing his hands still shaking from whatever it was the spirit had subjected him to.

"No need to apologize Dimitri, not even your bullets could harm a spirit" the vampyre teased, rubbing the human's hair as he chuckled, looking over at the spirit that surrounded the male, finding its presence intriguing. Even though the bells that chimed within it, the vampyre could help but notice the sensation of predatorial hunger. Tilting the rifle barrel down, Dante stepped from the shadows, making his way to a nearby window. looking out he could see another pairing of reconciliators coming.

They were probably looking for the young man he had drained. But this gave a perfect opportunity to see what this man was capable of. "Well if you are hungry there are two more reconciliators coming, and I haven't had my fill of spilling the blood of those affiliated with that wretched order" he noted, darting out the room and onto the streets. He was wasting no time, clearing the distance using pushes through the flux.

Once on top of them, he pushed himself into the air, and then pushed down on them, putting one of the reconciliators into the ground with kinetic force. The other drew his pistol but found himself unable to move. Dante's eyes glowed fiercely as he was tapping into the power of Rhabdomancy, the reconciliators body unable to move, but very aware of his surroundings.

Hector turned his head with a sort of excited interest when the human entered the room, panicked as he was. Dimitri spoke to the human with the same sort of caring tone that he and Vergil used towards one another– they must be close to some degree, though the elf could not exactly parse which degree that was. With Tirspi returning to his side, he was difficult to see in the shifting shadows…but vision was poor in here, anyhow. Though he was unsure whether or not his new companions could see his features well, he still stood with a grin drawn across his features and a notably bright gleam to his eyes.

Then, the other vampyre spoke again. Two more reconciliators searching for their lost friend, huh? Well, with the present company taking on two of them wouldn’t be that much of a risk. Hector was somewhat embarrassed about how weak he was, but he need not mention that at all unless it somehow became…relevant.

However, he was unable to even respond before his new ‘friend’ ran out of the room. Of course, the elf did follow, but at a pace much slower than the other man. He figured that in his confidence, he could handle himself until he was able to catch up. And my, my was he fast. Must be a mage beyond vampirism, then, no? How fun…Hector himself wanted a few more runes if he could find and convince their holders to share.

His pace was not much more than a brisk walk as he followed in the direction he’d heard the other go, and while he walked, the human managed to dash past him– but not as fast as Dimitri himself. When he was able to see the scene, he saw the other man atop one of the reconciliators and the second one appeared…frozen. Rhabdomancy? Another form of magic? The fledgling couldn’t exactly tell.

He also didn’t care. With his aidolon still surrounding him, he was likely a terrifying sight– a moving shadow, ghostly in nature– to the poor man before him. Hector gave a playful bow before the defenseless one, then spoke: “Worry not…you needn’t suffer long.”

With those words said, he stepped up to the man, similar in height, cupped his face and smiled ever so briefly before dipping his head down and biting into his neck. Sweet sustenance….it was always satisfying regardless of quality. This poor lad wasn’t exactly bad, either. Young, healthy…a shame his flame had to be snuffed like this, but oh well, such is the way of things.

By the time he’d finished, Hector dropped the man’s lifeless corpse to the floor, no longer supported by Dimitri’s spell since his blood and life were both gone. With half closed eyes and an almost bored expression on his face, he turns his head to see if his new friend was done.

“Thank you for your assistance, by the way.”

Dante and Dimitri both watched as the other Vampyre dined on the reconciliator, though their focus shifted to the one Dante had subdued as he wasn't dead yet. The vampyre lifted the mortals head, and dined on the man, not that he needed to now, but he didn't want to make waste of his food. When he was finished, he looked over at his vampyre companion and looked at the way he fed.

It was almost gentle, not as voracious as he thought it to be among his kind. It was interesting to see as it was somewhat similar to what Dante did in his feeding. Once their hunger was satiated the other thanked him for his assistance. Dante picked up the body he had fed on and flung it off into the darkness of an alley they were near, wiping the blood from his mouth. "No need to thank me, I was simply just in the right place at the right time." he shrugged.

Looking around he knew they couldnt stay there as surely others would come to investigate what had happened here. He knew the the busier part of the city was not that far from where they were now, so that would be the best bet. Walking over to the man, he wiped the blood that was on his face, thumbing it away as his glowing red eyes looked into the other's. Wrapping his arm around the other's waist, Dante used kinetics to leap onto a nearby rooftop, then push on to another, and another.

Soon the noise of the bustling nightlife could be heard. Landing on one of the nearby buildings, Dante lowered them down into the alley. "Its best we blend in for the time being, Dimitri will insure the corpses are dealt with and disposed of. Im rather curious to know more about......you." he purred, a look of curiosity in his eyes as he looked back at the thinner male.

While it hadn’t been too absurdly long since the last time he’d fed, it was always particularly refreshing to drain somebody so completely. Honestly, it was somewhat rare for Hector to go out on the streets to hunt on his own. When he would go to hunt, he was usually not alone, either. In truth, he typically would keep himself topped off by some of the members of the Cult of Mending that remained mortal. This was never by force, too, since a lot of them offered themselves willingly out of reverence for the Vitalitasi among them. In that case, though, you can’t actually kill them. That’s very much frowned upon.

His attention faded from his feeding more fully when the other vampyre responded to what he had said. Right place, right time, the other spoke. True enough, but it’s not as if he had any obligation to help him. That, and since he wasn’t a Mender, Hector felt somewhat lucky that the other wasn’t outright hostile to him. Vampyres or no, they had no affiliation with one another and Hector had interrupted him and harassed his pet human. Bit of a foolish series of choices on his end, but at least it worked out.

Looking at the other with a curious expression and a cant to his head, the elf wasn’t exactly sure what his plan was in his wordless approach. Before he could say anything, however, the stranger crossed the threshold of his personal space and even raised a hand to his face. Not in any hostile way, no– the touch was gentle but nonetheless took Hector a bit by surprise. His reaction being a bit delayed, he still didn’t manage to say a word before the other man wrapped an arm ‘round his waist and lifted his feet from the ground.

This action resulted in feelings of panic, anxiety, nerves and so on within the elf as he clung to the other man in a state of utter confusion. He didn’t want to be dropped and also had never moved at quite this speed in quite this way. Kinetics wasn’t really a rune he was familiar with, and though he knew of it, he didn’t know enough to actually recognize it for what it was in this scenario. That isn’t to say he was daft enough to not realise that the other man was using magic of some sort. This wasn’t any vampyre ability…at least not one that he was familiar with.

When the other finally lowered them down into an alley and let his feet once more hit the ground, Hector was disoriented. He blinked a few times as if to adjust himself before returning a curious gaze to the other man when he spoke.

Me? I…don’t think I’m that interesting. Son of a pair of Kindred mages…they run an apothecary. Unless you mean…” he trailed off a second to think before continuing, “...more in regards to how I got my rune? My mentor has it. He gave it to me for…honestly, I don’t know what he saw in me to convince him to make that decision, but I’ll be forever grateful in that regard.” At this point it would be somewhat clear from the lack of confidence in his voice that the younger man wasn’t actually sure what to say, and so he was just saying whatever came to his mind first.

Then, a spark of realization– he, too, had questions to ask. “But what about you? And what rune did you use to get us here? That speed seems…useful.”

Leaning against the brick of the alleyway Dante, shifted his eyes toward the bustling streets a few feet away from them. Hearing the man's words Dante wasn't sure if he was being honest or downplaying his own story to seem uninteresting. Whatever the case Dante didn't press him further as nothing would come of it. He was still trying to wrap his head around there being more vampyre other than himself and his aunt.

When the questioning was turned onto him, Dante turned his gaze back at the man. "I was born here, in this city on the West End of Zaichaer. Back then I was Dreyfus Monteliyet. I was a reconciliator, I was an heir, a son. Now I have come to hate the very state I used to serve. I hate the reconciliators and those that oppress mages within Zaichaer." he spoke, looking back to the many humans walking about. "My father was once an airman and turned to the information sector. My mother......my mother died during childbirth." he added, not needing to reveal much else about that situation.

"That magic was Kinetics, it allows you to move things by manipulating the flux of aether that's around everything. You can even move yourself if you want." he noted, picking up some trash and pulling it towards himself before pushing it back away with a gesture of his hand. Looking back to the crowded streets Dante looked over the people that were out. All of them caused the vampyre to fill with a sensation of disgust and pity.

Looking back to the other vampyre, he extended a hand. "Come, let us take a stroll."

When the other man backed away, Hector took a second to steady himself. Even though that technically wasn't flight, it was more air travel than he'd seen any time prior in his short life. While his new companion spoke, the elf stared in his direction but was looking past him rather than making any kind of eye contact.

"...and here I thought I had a comfortable upbringing,"Hector laughed.

"West End nobility, huh? I wonder what they did to poison the well that was their own son…not that I blame you, of course. Fear of magic is for fools." He smiled with a slight cant to his head, "...in truth, it's nice that you did. As a Coven mage, the anti-magic sentiment espoused by our state is…exhausting."

Silence for a moment, but then one more question: "Do you not miss the life you had? Honestly, I don't know how I'd fare if I ended up just leaving everything behind. As much as I'd love to go somewhere more friendly to mages, I'm not sure I could stomach the transition."

Eyes of lavender shifted to the object manipulated by the other mage. So this was kinetics, then. He knew of it, but he hadn't really seen it used much, especially not in the transportation of his own personage.

"Kinetics seems nice to have. Most I know have Summoning or Elementalism, though there's a mix in the other Covens. I do hope to get more runes some day, seeing as I only have two at the moment." Hector spoke lamentingly, as if he genuinely believed there was something to be ashamed of by not having more.

The movement of his new companion once again drew the elf's attention, and this time the other offered him a hand. To where? …Suppose it didn't really matter, did it?

"Sure, why not…? Do you have a destination in mind or are we wandering?"
