Tiny glimmers of blue began to speckle bringing light where once was empty blackness. Myles Arnnett found himself in the midst of a reverie. It was a memory of a place he'd visited some time ago. Perhaps it felt like another life now, in the aftermath of Zaichaer's calamitous doom. It was a cavern deep in the Warrens. It had not been breached by humans in untold millennia, if ever, until an intrepid expedition party from Zaichaer delved in search of an ancient force- hoping to awaken it to the modern world and, in so doing, end perennial paradigms and usher in a new era. In the waking hours the memory of this place was not a sharp one- It felt set apart from time and space as conscious minds understood it. This might have struck Myles as odd, because the view was so stark.

The dots of blue light began to glow more resplendently, swirling and dancing in the dank air. Things were just as they'd been when their party had first entered and the presence of a dragonshard had been enough to awaken the little glowing parasites from their slumber. Except that now Myles was alone in this hallowed place. The lights danced just for him- whirling in their inexplicable orbits, until they began to take a shape. More and more sprung forth from the walls until they took the form of a man knelt upon the ground, as if prayerful.

"It was like the grand finale of a mighty symphony of the elements..."

A voice emitted from the glowing, blue creature even before he was fully incorporated into a solid being. The voice was familiar, and yet its strange resonance made it difficult to place. Slowly the glowing dots became a single mass of light, and that light began to darken to resemble pale flesh, dark hair and clothing.

Myles to fail to recognise both the voice and face kneeling on the ground before him. They belonged to the late Brenner Dornkirk, his whilom friend, confidante and commanding officer. His skin still bore a faint glow, so he remained stark against the darkness of the surrounding cave.

"Full of great promise..." More of the little blue speckles sprung forth from the walls, quickly darting toward the ground between Myles and Brenner, where they formed a three dimensional map of the city of Zaichaer.

"...and great foreboding." A depiction of that fateful Dread Mist storm appeared above the glowing blue model city. It loomed forebodingly as tiny projectiles sprung forth from below to stave off the coming maelstrom until, suddenly, Brenner lifted a hand and the scene froze in place.

"On that moment hung eternity." He whispered, voids of blackness occupied the space where his eyes ought to be, but they seemed fixed upon the scene below as if incognizant of Myles' presence.

"Time stood still. Space contracted to a pinpoint. It was as though the earth had opened and the skies split. One felt as though he had been privileged to witness the birth of the world."

Suddenly, Brenner closed his hand into a fist and the devastation of Zaichaer proceeded apace in the microcosmic depiction that lay between them. When Brenner opened his hand again, the dots of light that had formed the model city dispersed and fled into his palm to join the greater mass that formed the man.

Now, finally, he looked up to regard his guest.

"Myles." Two marbles of blue light coalesced in the black void of his eye sockets and seemed to fix upon Arnnett as the figure stood. He was wearing the suit Brenner had bought when they'd visited a tailor shop together in advance of the expedition.

"Mein Champion ist gekommen."
