Uberfallenlicht Chapter Headquarters
The Legion Hall of the Fallen Light Raiders was as impressive as he might have imagined. The architecture was in southern Imperial styles, adding to the gothic grandeur of the building. He recalled clearly how Baudric had once spoke so proudly of what he and his brethren did. It was not unlike what the Sky Guard did in service to Kalzasi. The quest to hunt down demons that preyed upon the unsuspecting and defenseless was a cause that he could get behind.
When the Emperor had given him his marching orders, making it known what Talon was supposed to do, he had immediately begun planning the expedition in his head. While Baudric was in Kalzasi as far as he knew, the chapter of knights had come to his mind as he had begun assessing who might best be suited to join him on the venture. With no other clear familiarity in the empire, he saw no reason to not approach them. He had sent a message to the Chapter as soon as the thought passed through his head to expect his visit in order to assess their capabilities. If he was to succeed, he would need the best they had to offer. The response he had received back had been sent by the Primarch of the Chapter himself, promising a display of the best and brightest knights that the Fallen Light Raiders could provide. Talon silently wondered how they would measure up to the warriors he had seen throughout his life.
He walked up the pathway to the Chapter House flanked by two of the Palace Legionnaire’s. Their raven wings and dark armor were a sharp contrast to the silver of Talon’s eagle wings and the platinum and gold armor that he wore. As he approached the large doors to the Chapter House, they opened. The heavy wooden doors groaned, causing the inner lobby of the manor house to echo. The interior was decorated with the accolades of the Chapter. He could see trophies from the knight’s past exploits and even memorials dedicated to past members who had fallen. The chapter colors hung proudly and Talon could not help but study the things that were around him.
“Inform the Primarch that the Hand of the Emperor has arrived.” The Palace Legionnaire beside him spoke to the front hall attendant who jumped into action in order to quickly fetch the Head of the Chapter. Talon was still coming to grips with his own role and the dynamics of how it played in the hierarchy of Imperial politics. Thus far he had not truly tested the waters and acted only where he saw a need to. His purpose was clear enough to him and he had little reason to deviate from executing it. However, from what he gathered he was an entity unto himself who answered directly to the Emperor and no other. Neither the Inquisition nor the Imperial Legion held command over him and that had certainly caused a few waves from what he could tell. He had not yet had the opportunity to discern who was pleased, who was furious and who was stunned by it.
It was as he was waiting, that he heard a voice that, at first, he thought he misheard. A voice shouting what sounded like drill commands. It was deep and powerful but it held an air of familiarity to it. He was momentarily confused but when he heard the voice again, he was moving before he had truly registered the fact that he was walking. The Palace Legionnaire’s remained, knowing that Talon would go where he pleased in most instances. They would lead the Primarch to him.
Talon followed the voice until he was stepping into a spacious training yard. Avialae and even others, all of whom were impressively built and wielding training weaponry, stood going through training drills. Among them, however, Talon recognized a single Avialae. He was momentarily shocked into stillness. He towered over practically everyone there. The impressive Orkhan Avialae was impossible to mistake.
“Baudric?”

Baudric was never one to seem above any of the lads. No matter their rank. Dressed in his combat gear instead of his station as he strode slowly through the soldiers. A standard issued sword grasped in his hands tucked behind him as he inspected the battle stances and forms. It was now that he cared the most. The men had gone through their forms nearly a hundred times over. Now they would begin to slack off. Let their guards down as exhaustion would begin to set in. He would give them a break soon. As long as they pushed through to build up their stamina. They were as a majority doing well except for the two jokesters of the Chapter.
"Push through the soreness! When battling the heartless fiends that pour from the Gash you will not know if the battle be quick or extensive. Your unit will always aim to end it fast. Minimize any and all collateral damage to property and citizen alike. PUSH!"
Though the two of them wanted so much to smart back at him for being cruel, the demeanor of the other Legion felt like a collective respect for Baudric. The two could almost sense the others would surely give them grief later if they did not respect Baudric. Though they would not know the reason why.
They stared back at him with intense dislike while he towered over them blotting out the sun overhead with his bulk. He seemed untouchable to them.. then relief.
"At ease." Movement out of the corner of his eye registered on his mind without looking to it. "Each of you pair up. Owen and Shen. Find someone else. Your enemy will not always be effected by weapons. Unlike those who guard the Gash. You will find yourself facing powers that can control your allies. Even possess their bodies. You must slay your target no matter the cost. Even if it means the life of your Unit. Your pack. If possible however, it's still wise to first try to make them momentarily unavailable. With out your weapons. Render your opponent paralyzed."
The two medics assigned to him for these drills stood now at the ready to work.
"Baudric?"
The voice came from the direction of his mental alert. At the call of his name her turned to face its owner. The man who stood there looked at him like someone who had found something they had not known they had lost.
"Hinsicht! Ser, at your service Ser!"
With a quick snap the winged Orkhan saluted Talon and stood unmoving until permitted. The sound of title and swift movement made all soldiers stop their drills immediately to follow in salute to Talon.
"Mein Licht, vertreibe die Dunkelheit, befreie meine Seele. Fliegen Sie in der Luft des Zufalls."

He watched as Baudric guided the other knights with dutiful instruction, speaking clearly. When he was acknowledged, it took a moment before he realized that Baudric was coming to attention for him. An act that was soon followed by the rest of the knights training in the courtyard. He did not immediately put them at ease. He took the opportunity to inspect them. Stepping forward, Talon let his hands come to rest as the small of his back. He passed his eyes over the stoic soldiers, looking them over in order to see exactly what this chapter held. Without their Primarch there to keep them in order, he wanted to see what kind of men they were. It was only when he had made a full circle that he came to stand before Baudric and looked up at the giant.
He could see the collar around Baudric’s neck. He did not need to even probe it with Semblance to know that it was a new one. What had Baudric endured upon his return to the Imperium? Part of him felt sadness that such a noble warrior would once again find himself in service to the empire. A knight of Baudric’s caliber could have done great deal of justice in the world beyond the empire’s reach. There was no use in lingering on it however. He had been about to address the man with some measure of familiarity but he realized that it was likely not in their best interest to do so in such a public place.
“At ease.” He spoke to the assembled but his eyes did not leave Baudric. He searched for some spark of recognition there. “I have come to see the might of the Uberfallenlicht. I have need of a strong and skilled accompaniment. At the behest of His Exalted Majesty, I am to gather others to my side in order to assist me in a task by order of Imperial Mandate.”
He let the weight of that sink in. Talon had it within his authority to requisition whatever was deemed necessary for the completion of his mission. He could have demanded the entire chapter of the knights if he so desired but he did not want an army. For the task ahead, he required people he could trust. People he could rely on in order to work in a focused and decisive manner. From having fought beside Baudric in the North, he already knew something of what the other Avialae was capable of. He would test the knight’s abilities soon enough. In the meanwhile, he wanted to see what was before him.
“Who among you do you name as greatest in prowess?” It was then that he heard footsteps behind him. The sound of the Palace Legionnaire’s armored steps along with the steps of another. Talon remained standing, observing the knights before him but primarily studying Baudric.

Even with the order to rest, Baudric and his trainees stood in the most structured stance of respect for command. Staring ahead with heads held high to project strength and might of the Imperium. Baudric would not have the trainees besmirching the chain of command with improper show of respect. All their eyes drifted to Baudric as the most capable among the group present. Even they weren't sure how strong he was but they had heard plenty of stories from the older members of Baudric's career.
"Ser. Permission to speak freely."
He waited the brief moment required to allow Talon the decision to allow the freedom of speech. However before he could he spotted from the corner of his eye the fast approach of his Primarch. A very subtle shift in his body language, more rigid and tense his will to speak closing off. Baudric was good at presenting respect to his ranking officers. But even he could feel his body relax anytime he was able to leave Muller's presence.
"Hand, I am honored you have come to our little chapter."
The Human man came to stand almost between Talon and Baudric. Giving the Unique official a salute.
"These are our newest recruits to the chapter. Each are not fully inducted into our order yet. If you would like I can pull a list of my top soldier for inspection. None of these men are fit for service afield."
Baudric tightened his jaw slightly upon the proximity of Muller. It was a strange feeling as beyond the privacy of the man's office he never got close to any of his soldiers. The Trainees even took notice, sharing side glances with each other over what could prompt him to drop pretenses. Their eyes all turning to Talon wondering if it was the newly appointed Hand of the Emperor.
Baudric tried to calm his emotions. Taking to his little gesture of gently rubbing his vestigial wings against his hips and sides partially hidden under his primary wings. He didn't know what was going on out here. Only knew it was interrupting his training of the men.

He was about to give Baudric the permission he sought when the voice of another man interrupted them. He turned his head slightly to see an older human marching his way toward them. The arrival of the one he could only assume was the Primarch of the Chapter. He regarded the man for a moment, inclining his head at the salute. He felt a noticeable shift in the atmosphere of the courtyard at the Primarch’s arrival. There had been a comfortable formality before but he could very much sense the change in mood. A lifetime of attuning himself to the auras and emotions of others made him particularly perceptive of such changes.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the subtle shifting of Baudric’s vestigial smaller wings. The sight of them rubbing against the Avialae’s broad thighs had been a habit Talon had noticed he picked up while in Kalzasi. It meant that Baudric was uncomfortable.
“On the contrary, Primarch.” Talon side-stepped the man and walked up to Baudric, looking up at the towering Orkhan Avialae. “I have heard great things about this particular soldier.”
Talon let his hands rest at the small of his back. He had not missed how practically every knight’s eye drifted to Baudric at the question of who was the most capable. He had witnessed the man’s skill and ability himself as they had vanquished a demon in the north.
“I believe a demonstration is in order.” He turned his head to regard the Primarch coldly. “I insist.”
In part, he was testing both his own authority and that of the Primarch’s. He had not had much time to learn about Baudric’s time in the Imperium. Not nearly as much as he would have liked. However, he had to wonder about the character of the man who was his keeper. Keepers of the Kathar collars were already people that Talon had a very low estimation of. From what little Baudric had shared with him about his life in the Imperium, it had not been an easy one. His skill as a warrior was certainly a testament to that.
“It would of course be a match against myself. I would test the skill and capabilities of every soldier that I potentially want to accompany me on the Emperor’s task.” He let that hang in the air. It would be a bold move indeed if the Primarch refused to let him assess the ability of a soldier that was being considered for his Crown-given mandate.

The moment Talon stepped around the elderly man had sparked a reaction in him that was visibly being fought. His body tensed as he resist unknown urges. After some internal battle a slimy smile pulled at his lips as he feigned a cordially began to speak.
"With great respect, Hand. This man is freshly returned from behind enemy lines and a tampered collar. He must needs remain with the Chapter's Inquisitors to keep an eye on the reestablished link. Other than the barracks he is restricted to grounds until they clear him for active duty. However, if it is your wish to have just a demonstration. Then I see no harm in it."
The man's jaw clenched tightly in frustration. Fear that his prized pet might be harmed by this second class outsider abomination gripped at the back of his mind while the rest of it stared daggers at the audacity that Talon could have any power or sway over him and his possessions.
"Knight-Legionnaire, Let the Hand see how we Uberfallenlicht handle things."
Baudric glanced to his Primarch wondering if he had indeed heard him right. Was he really giving into the Emperor's will through this Avialae? He had half expected that he would have weaseled his way in this confrontation. Was this some kind of trick? This much attention of power play conflict over him made him uneasy.
Giving a salute as it was all he could do. He wandered over to pick up a blunted practice sword from the rack. There were no shields about that day so he would have to forgo his signature board and stick stance. Instead he would need to show off adaptability. Uncertain what he could do with The Hand as his opponent. He had heard a couple things about the man. They said he claimed himself as some sort of god. Even if there was doubt on the claim there still was no proof or loud cries to denounce his claims. Could he hold his own against him?
Walking into the center of the sand sparring ring beside the recruits he turned and waited for his opponent. Eagerly the young boys began to clamor for a good spot along the wooden railings for whatever was about to be seen.
