Bio: Solar Sovereign Thalya IV is a member of the Golden Race of Re’hyæan Elves who ascended the Radiant Throne in Ash of 12 Steel, after a hotly contested succession conclave that resulted in a Civil War called the Bellum Successionis. Thalya’s branch of the Sol’Aværys Dynasty, being charged with control over most of the military, was able to end the war by capturing the her dissident cousin Alcineus the Platinum of Gens Phædryn. Thalya’s first act as Solar Sovereign was to call for the execution of Alicineus, but she saw fit to spare his young daughter Cithæra, who has gone on to become Materfamilias of Gens Phædryn and Master Sembler of the Conclave. Her decision to spare the child of her rival proved a controversial one- with some believing the child should have been executed lest she grow up with designs to avenge her father, and others believing that both she and her Platinum father should have been spared.
Thalya IV has ruled with a firm, but moderating hand. It is felt that the tension, still brimming in the aftermath of the Bellum Successionis, led the Sovereign to be more temperate in her role than many of her predecessors. She upholds her ceremonial role with regularity, but she leaves more of the realm's administration in the hands of the Senatus than any Solunarian sovereign in recorded history. Even the sovereigns who have proven more decadent and less interested in the intricacies of rulership in the past would typically have handed the reins over to a courtier and maintained official control but Thalya, it seems, having had a taste of controversy upon her accession, prefers to avoid it even a century into her reign. Her policy indicates she would prefer the Senate be blamed for any unpopular decisions than the Crown.
Though Thalya IV is a proud daughter of Gens Vlahos-Sol’Aværys, her mother and her husband/cousin were both members of the Astræon branch and she feels a strong kinship to that part of her lineage. Her adept mind for military strategy is rather lost on the peacetime reign she’s enjoyed since acceding the Radiant Throne. It is widely known that the seasonal military parades highlighting the might and grace of her Golden Guard is the Sovereign’s favourite queenly duty. Thalya is married to her cousin Evador of Gens Astræon-Sol’Aværys, and they have three children. Her eldest son, Valius Kædryn was killed in a duel in 121 Steel. His heir, Thalyus Vrædyn, is the current paterfamilias of Gens Vlahos-Sol’Aværys.
