After he watched Avamande's ascent up to the first frame of the mainsail, Rickter's eyes gradually averted down to the hold of the main deck. With just a wave of his two digits on each hand, the entrance to the hold groaned from the flex of his aether. With a flick of his Kinetics, the entrance to the storage deck below opened, leaving a gaping hole where the massive trap door lifted and moved from. With a brief bang of wood on deck, the door rested next to the entrance, waiting for the wolf to dive right in once he rested his hands.
By now he was steadily getting accustomed to the rolling of waves when they hit the ship, even so, the idea of going down somewhere dark and unknown unsettled him. He wasn't alone though, well, not at least on the ship. "Just drop down there, find whatever piece of this key is... and come straight back up." He reminded himself as he neared the edge of the entrance, his gaze narrowed as he couldn't see beyond the darkness that awaited him below.
No other way to deal with it then... With the lift of his foot he leaned forward, and shifted to drop within the darkness that awaited below. Air soon rushed passed him, enough to make it feel like he had fallen for a minute, before he generated a lift beneath his feet to cushion the incoming landing. Two loud thunks hit the wood beneath him when he finally felt solid ground, as the dark of the hold steadily lessened on his immediate surroundings.
The interior of the ship's hull sounded odd. The groans induced throughout the bones of the vessel was to be expected, but there was also the sloshing of water as though the hold had taken it in. Though no longer caught by the rain the wolf still felt drenched, his narrowed eyes only widened by a margin as he adjusted to the dark. Still too difficult to see... He hadn't quite fathomed the extent of the spell he used earlier, nor the innate connection it gave him directly to the light. But with Eminence still something he could rely on, the wolf reluctantly raised his left hand without looking away from the darkness before him.
"Luminus." And just like that a spark became a brilliant silver flame, burning out from his palm like a beacon in the pitch black. The room around him seemed big already, lined with shelves that were stocked full of crates and other odds and ends. Looking up he couldn't see the entrance he'd jumped down from, which unnerved him even more since he hadn't any idea just how deep this place went. Then he remembered that this was still a dream, therefore, it was easier to consider that maybe the interior of this ship wasn't going be as close to normal as he would expect.
The aisles before him created a straightforward path that he could walk, but after he passed the fifth or sixth unit of shelves, that was where he discovered an edge waiting for him within the flooring. Another hole from the looks of it, only this time the black of water awaited him below, likely hiding undiscernible depths as well as other unfavorable surprises within. Another knot had already woven itself into the magical bands on his wrists, making that four altogether, when he glanced from water to the wrist of his hand generating the Dawnfire. He could swim, of that he was sure...
He just dreaded what he might find down below. Regardless, with a deep breath Rickter lowered the flame down first, and then dove right in to explore the depths of the ship itself.
----
As Avamande ascended the mast of the ship to climb the mainbrace, the crow's nest looked to be in sight far overhead for a minute. However, as the rain and winds battered the sails around him, it started to look as the sheets of canvas were shredding. Yet they weren't.
All around him within the storm sheets were hoisted onto their braces, generating a literal maze of sails that the Hytori would have to navigate. What's more is the higher he would climb to reach the crow's next, the more prominent there would be flapping within the wind.
As though avian creatures loomed within the winds of the wicked storm around him.
