Kalzasi was a place of wonder. Still miles away, he could see the smudges of cloudy, floating landmasses on the sky. What a marvel of Aerolyth it must have been to ascend and balance those vast, heavy stones!

From his vantage atop a hill, Aardwalden scurried down a winding path, broaching boulders and hopping roots. There were still several miles yet, but he was happy to know what lay ahead.

Pools of light blinking beneath the morning sun, Aardwalden could feel the dew of last nights rains dripping down his face, rays of light shining down through the canopy above as small creatures bucked upon his sighting, rustling the bushes before clambering up the trunks in fear.

Stumbling out onto a muddy trail marred by wagon wheel markings, Aardwalden peered first left, then right. The trail didn’t point to Kalzasi, so he went another way, coming across a farmstead and a troop of girls fetching water.

“Are you lost, child?” one of the women asked. Then they saw his face.

So anyway, Aardwalden kept going, walking in a roundabout way towards Kalzasi proper. The gnome was dressed in a ratty friars robe, a hood over his head with a stiff gait. His eyes were like bluish-cyan, glowing pools of aether, veins of aetherial blue scattered about his body. The earth seemed to relax where he went, calming in spite of the chaos human feet meted out against its muddy surface.

By a glade near a brook, Aardwalden paused to marvel at the wispy water of a vast waterfall in the distance. It called to the elements in his heart, and he could not refuse this marriage of earth, air, and water. Stepping up onto another trail, he zig-zagged his way up to a point halfway up the falls, passing through a dark, damp tunnel hewn into the earth that carried him to the otherside where a vantage point stood before the falls, so close that he could reach out and touch the edges of the water as it fell.
