[OOC] Oelivert Codex

The sprawling city of Oelivert, dubbed the Heart of the Emerald Vale, is a bastion of culture and civilization among the expansive region occupied by The Land's proud Clans of the South. The largest in population but the second in wealth, it is the center of Atinoran culture at its core, providing opportunities to forge Kinships with members of the southern communities. Clans are close-knit within their tribes but the politics of Atinaw are tricky, and many mythoi exist from the city's long and twisted history. It is the central hub of Atinaw that serves to preserve order among the clans, brimming with Southland politics, it is no small wonder that the capital is named the Heart of the Vale.

Originally built as a fortified fortress that fell to ruin, the oldest parts of Oelivert tell a story of an ancient forgotten elven history. Its architectural structure has stood against the erosion of time and has long been rebuilt into a thriving and prosperous citadel. Known as the Heart of the Vale between the northern and southern cities of Atinaw, Oelivert serves as a central hub for commerce as well as a historical landmark for the region's turbulent history. The city is divided into several districts, with access to some restricted based on one's standing in society at large. Much of the city itself is newer compared to the original areas rebuilt, namely the large centralized structure known as Whitespire Castle.

The Ancient Quarter
The Ancient Quarter is where the first settlement of Clan Oelivert took place, before they gradually began to rebuild the rest of the fortress. When they first arrived the mystical elven structures that once stood as a testament to time became their home, as the rest of the city gradually expanded from the base of the hillside and down into the valley below it.

The Commerce Quarter
The second quarter which became the common ground for trade between clans, the Commerce Quarter is the southern section of the city that's filled with its share of both residential housing as well as public businesses. It's here within the quarter that the heart of the city beats the loudest, as merchants and travelers alike come here to ply their trade and bask in the culture the city has to offer.

The Industrial Quarter
The Industrial Quarter is the northwestern section that connects the city with the rest of the outside world, and it is also where many artisans go to live to refine their personal trades. It is within the Industrial Quarter where adventurers and innovators thrive most, as they can find work among the guilds that are stationed in this quarter. There is also a train station that welcomes travelers from all over, as well as handles imports and exports across the land.

The Residential Quarter
The Residential Quarter is where the vast majority of residents that live in the city reside, tucked within the safety of the southwestern inner wall. It bears a stark difference compared to the wealthy who live in the Ancient Quarter, though, the community that dwells within this part of the walls is steadfast and looks out for one another.

The Outer Gates
Though the outer wilds are not as riddled with threats as they used to be, the outside perimeter of the gates is not without its own risks. Though who cannot afford the protection of the walls have bundled together into slums, leaving them at risk of exposure to any threats that may invade from the outer wilds. Farmlands also decorate the outer walls near the city as well, providing bountiful food for the city proper, as well as a few exotic goods worth exporting to other territories.

Climate and Geography

The terrain surrounding Oelivert ranges from forests that dot the surrounding landscape, mainly, the northeastern area as the Gulbrún River joins the Rúbín River into the coastline delta. The Heart of the Emerald Vale, as described by the locals, is a countryside of hills and plow fields bordered by the five holds. Southeast of Oelivert is where Kamdin borders the Crowned City with woodland and mountains in between, while Myalder rests between Oelivert and the Deadlands further beyond.

Surrounding the city proper, farmlands exist producing a variety of crops under the protection of the Gryphon Knights. Rich green hills stretch on into valleys beyond it, before the wildlife borders the outskirts with a vibrancy to life. Numerous paths have been carved through the Vale to allow for easier travel between Clan Holds, while members of each Clan patrol the roads between settlements to monitor these paths.

To the southwest of Oleivert lies an old and forgotten wood named Vitur Skógur, rumored to have once been an ancient forest that once talked with mortals. While the outer wilds themselves are patrolled there is always danger lurking around every corner, as the land is ripe with incredible game, as well as vicious predators that are always willing to hunt.

The weather around Oelivert is fairly consistent with the city seeing all four seasons. Springs are generally cool and mild with rainfall sporadic, until the summer sets in, and the climate generates a warmth that brings wetter weather into the season. By the time harvest hits the vibrance of green pales a little, and fall brings cooler temperatures during the dryer part of the year, with winter introducing cold winds from the north to blanket the capital with light snow. Winter doesn't stick around for too long, of course, as the warm climate from the south regulates the temperature, keeping Oelivert cool and moist throughout the remainder of the year.
