Gel’Grandal, imperium South Side. Searing 81, 122
The young noble had time to weigh her concerns, and had seemed to put merit in thinking she needed protection in the city. Her whole encounter with another mage in the city solidified her concerns. Sometimes problems had a way of finding you and Blythe was going to make sure she was prepared for hostile encounters. There was something in the back of her mind that said she was gonna run into trouble sooner than later. There was a thrill there lurking just under the surface, Blythe felt a certain rush of exhilarating feelings as she was not anxious but rather enthusiastic about it. That sense of urgency and danger made her feel alive, it was just a question of finding the right tool for the job.

She had coin and privilege and found herself browsing stores and markets, there was surprisingly a lot of places for weapons and the sorceress found herself spoiled for choice. Swords and armor had been on display as she went from various vendors across the south side, but she just didn't feel it. Her hands would pick up a helmet but truthfully she did not feel a connection and when this happened the item would be put back down. She sifted through gear and one by one each item that met her grasp failed her expectation. It was all so mundane and boring, it was all the same thing. Some were slashy others stabby and last but but not least smashy. The sorceress just didnt feel like anything suited her needs for protection.

She was a terrible shopper to the point of hating it, each sword was either heavy and clumsy or light and flimsy. Blythe was expecting something with both grace style and functionality. There was only one weapon she marveled over like in the pages of romance novels, an emblazoned sword of roaring flames. It was truly the only thing that would suffice with all things being considered. It was her secret girl crush fantasy fetish, to wield an awe inspiring flaming blade of magnificence.

But with each encounter of steel it was always the same nothing came of it except perhaps disappointment.

She kept looking around and came across a small little boutique of sorts with a cute little sign that flapped about in the gentle breeze the words Outfitter Kara written in crackling paint.

When she stepped into the store everything was completely different, no armor or medieval weaponry. Guns and lots of them behind glass there were so many locked away on display. The siltori elf was fascinated with the concept, the look the smooth and efficient style of sleek chrome. Seeing her first pepperbox it really made her put things into perspective of what she may having been missing out on all this time.

Wandering eyes made her almost forget about something as silly as a magic flaming sword of fire, wait what was it she thought was so cool about that again? As her attention was focused on these little marvels of engineering. These were probably the absolute best on offer in all of ransera, at least that's how she felt about what she knew and unfortunately that was very little concerning these things.

"Would you liked to see one?" There came a mousy voice of a gnome that was wearing a two piece suit. Black vest and pants accompanied by a fetching light green dress shirt and a shiny deep emerald green tie of silk that brought out the deep forest green of her eyes. The gnomes short black hair was slicked back. She came off as a professional but somehow lacked the snake like salesman vibes. It was hard to put her finger on but this gnome she felt out of place, a friendly yet dont fuck with me demeanor with her fluid and confidence like there was just so much more to her then just a mere sales clerk.

Blythe was learning to pay attention trying to spot small details she used to overlook. And sure enough the short woman had a scar or two on her face. Did it mean anything though she wasn't sure.

"A forty five makes all races equal" the gnome chuckled as her feignt grin while all the while welcoming was also if truth be told was menacing. Who was this person Blythe wondered as she was the mage she was in control yet why did she feel so underwhelming in this Karas presence.

But before she had an opportunity to say anything back to the squeaky little voice. A basic model gun was put on the counter with a gentle sounding clack. And Blythes curious hands picked up the item, it was then at that very moment she betrayed the thought of owning a sword altogether because now with a flintlock pistol in her hand swords were dumb and while a flaming sword was cooler it was by that same margin just a little less dumb.

She felt powerful behind a gun, the aesthetic and feel of this weapon was almost in a way overwhelming. Blythes reaction after just tasting a sample was that of any noble that was faced in a similar position. She was no expert in this field and had no style in gunplay. Blythe didn't see the harm in asking a professional for there thought in the matter.

"If you were me, what would you want? I'd like to take your advice, I want the absolute best" A straight forward question from the sorceress to the clerk, the gnome had infinitely more experience in the matter and the Briathos noble felt herself compelled to take her years of wisdom and know how and make it hers. The dark elf was hanging on her every word like she did with her professors at the college. She was willing to explore knew frontiers even though it put her at a disadvantage being at the salesmans mercy.

"Aha like what you see? Dont be afraid to get a proper feel, these gears were painstakingly worked and oiled. The whole mechanism should feel smooth and natural." Her green eyes sparkling with the thrill of delight at the prospect of making such a sale, it wasn't everyday the clerk had a chance to sell such an exorbitantly expensive gun much less two and then the ammo oh the ammo thats whereshe saw her opportunity to shark that in there like a pro.

It was a matter of minutes with zero hesitation as two six shot revolvers clanked on the table. Blythe was a little perplexed, was she expected to dual wield these hand cannons?

"Why two guns? You a dual wielder or something?" As Blythe casually day dreamed about some kind of guns akimbo fantasy. Blasting bad guys coming to hurt her, yea she liked that idea a lot; givem both barrels. Once again it looked like her dreams of fiery swords were slipping further and further away. How could she dual wield two guns and hold a sword? It just wasn't possible but this! This steel in her hand was hee life's blood now.

The gnome looked at her like she was trying to troll her with such dumb nonesense. It clicked for a second when the clerk realized she was an absolute novice. There was a time when Kara's calling had been to be the absolute best gunslinger. The only problem was she'd get older as they stayed the same age. Couldn't swing it from the hip like she used to so she cashed out her chips early and set up shop on the south end. Kara had the foresight to know you couldn't be top dog forever and she was at peace with this.

"I'd want twelve shots, I'd want to pull my gun on the draw and fan the hammer at the hip. And if need be holster and draw the other to keep those aetherite shards flying. You get it, no reload. These pistols take forever to discharge the shells. It's enough firepower to kill what's in front of you though. You will need a box of 48 caster shells so the tab already is like two thousand eigth hundred and eighty. Not everyone has that kind of money but if you pick up the set ill even throw in a bandolier belt and rig the holsters for you." as she spoke she demonstrated the technique by hand gestures.

What was Blythe to say? money left her hand in this instance like it was no object. But somehow she felt like she was making a good decision, she wasn't a warrior and while there was always a place In her heart for a flaming sword it just wasn't meant to be. She accepted this as the gnome was slipping her belt on and arranging the holsters so that each gun was accessible by the right hand.

The black cloak felt like an absolute badass as the smell of fresh leather lofted in the air was combined with the professional level set up. But then it had completely dawned on her that she had no clue how to actually load these things.

"Ummm how do I load this?"Blythe asked sheepishly embarrassed she did not know what to do. She already pictured herself ready for a showdown woefully unprepared as she'd draw the six shooter like a gunslinger only to dry fire nothing.

Now the gnome was never gonna let this person load a gun in her store. But she did open the trap to show her how the revolver chambers were exposed and how pressing the pin at the barrel would dislodge an empty casing. She'd need to do this to each chamber individually then reload one by one. It didn't sound like much but it was certainly a daunting task with room for error under pressure.

She felt a certain measure of safety from the heft of her steel hanging off her waist. Blythe felt changed like she'd just experienced a right of passage. She had finally chosen her combat style and would live and die by the gun, which was in her mind infinitely more cool than getting shot by the gun while trying to charge someone with a sword.
