Is this a skill that defines the character? Is it something that you can imagine them without? Negation was a starting skill for Eitan, and the Rune was something he took on in his youth as a sacrifice (to his mind) for the State of Zaichaer. He hates it almost as much as his elven blood, but he has become adept at using it as a tool in service. He used to fetishize cutting it out of his skin and his soul, and he half-expected to be euthanized when he got too powerful, but now it allows him to protect what remains of his city.

How often do they use the skill? If it is something used infrequently, it is likely not a candidate for Grandmaster. Eitan uses Negation with frequency and regularity. The floating islands, the remains of the ZADC fleet, and various refugee spaces are guarded by his wards. They require maintenance.

What efforts has the character put into developing their own perspective and unique approach to using the skill? What is their trademark use of it? He surpassed his teachers some time ago, and has long been teaching himself as he goes. Barring any as yet unwritten NPCs, he's probably the most powerful Warder (if not mage) in the Order of Reconciliation, but isn't about to go to the Circle for help. Developing something new would be something I'd like to explore in his path to grandmastery.

Is this a skill that others immediately attribute to the character? If not, consider fostering a reputation involving its use. He is known as a Seeker of the Order of Reconciliation and specifically as a Warder. Everyone on the floating islands, in the fleet, and in the refugee camps know he is responsible for their safety.

How have you used the skill in your writing to impact not just your own character but others? See above.

For examples, he's been warding from flashbacks (Warlords of the Air.) to more contemporary crises (You, Into the Dark.). I can dig up more if necessary. Anyway, happy to discuss more in depth how this arc might go, but mostly just want permission to go for it and see where it goes. Someone has to keep Talon and his filthy divinity out of the remains of Zaichaer!

Title: Chief Author of Ransera

Approved. Eitan has more than displayed that he has the capacity to perform at the tier of Grandmaster.
