Luna’s local tavern was a place of sanctuary for the young assassin. Nestled at the corner of the neighborhood, it was a rustic, homey establishment that welcomed everyone. Tonight was no exception. The moment she pushed open the wooden door, the familiar scent of freshly baked bread and the distinctive tang of ale filled her senses. The low hum of chatter and the sporadic bouts of hearty laughter comforted her as she moved deeper into the tavern.

Luna was clad in her favorite black outfit, hair loosely braided, the dim lighting making her blue eyes sparkle. She had always been more comfortable in the solitude of her home or the calm confines of a library. But tonight, she craved the warm, homely chaos that a tavern offered. She didn't recognize many faces, most of them being regular patrons engaged in spirited discussions or solitary drinkers lost in their thoughts. Yet, she found comfort in their anonymity, appreciating the sense of community the bustling tavern offered.

She slipped into an empty spot at the bar, her heart fluttering in her chest as she ordered a drink. While the sight of familiar school corridors and classrooms provided a sense of comfort, there was a thrill in exploring life outside, in daring to venture into the unexpected. Plus, this was the kind of place where she might meet some interesting people. Interesting people usually led to interesting jobs which was important for an assassin.

Despite Luna’s excitement, she was still tired. It was fairly late in the evening and a swig of ale made her a little woozy. The ale made every face in the tavern slightly more attractive. She smiled at the thought of getting drunk and spending a night in a room here. She wasn’t eighteen yet, so any room she got would have to be alone though.

Chillin' in the usual corner of his favorite tavern, Ivar was just kicking back, soaking in the crazy vibes of the place. Man, it was alive! People were laughing, chatting, and mugs of ale were clinking left, right, and center. This place had that old, comfy kinda charm. Like, the tables were all beat up, decorations were straight-up rustic, and the air? It had this ancient, cool smell. Kinda weird, but kinda cool, too.

Suddenly, the door to the tavern swung open and in walks Luna. He'd know her anywhere. She was like this calm in the middle of a storm, her entrance sort of clashing with the rowdy folk around her. Seeing her there gave him a bit of a jolt. But here she was, right in the thick of the crowd.

She was rocking that black outfit. He hadn’t seen her in that before, seeming all peaceful and relaxed even with all the noise around her. Ivar watched as she slid into a spot at the bar, ordering herself an ale. He felt this warm buzz inside. He thought Luna was stepping out of her comfort zone, mixing it up from the usual classroom and library scene. And that was pretty cool.

Feeling a spark of courage, Ivar decided to leave his comfy corner. He pushed through the crowd, lifting his hand in a friendly wave as he got closer. It was pretty cool seeing Luna just fitting in so well in the tavern. It was a side of her he'd never seen before, and it made him feel really good about being acquainted with her. Even though their magic was totally different, they could still have these cool moments together. He decided to ask her a question or two.

“Nice seeing you here. What are you up to? Business or pleasure?”

Luna looked up from her ale, caught off guard as a familiar voice rang out amid the noise of the tavern. Ivar stood before her clearly visible. A rush of surprise swept over Luna, her heart momentarily skipping a beat. The sight of Ivar in such a setting was unexpected. He was not exactly who she’d ever expect to run into. His helpful schoolboy demeanor at the college almost seemed out of place amid the worn wood and smoky air. "Iva!?," she responded, her voice revealing a touch of her surprise, yet maintaining an undertone of warm familiarity.

With a conscious effort, she composed herself, resting her elbows on the worn tabletop. Her fingers traced the rim of her drink, her mind flicking between her initial plans for a quiet evening and the sudden intrigue presented by Ivar. "Just here for a bit of leisure," she confessed, her tone casual. She leaned back in her seat, her eyes sparkling with curiosity as they met his. The phrase 'business or pleasure' lingered in the air between them like an unsolved riddle.

"Business, you say?" she responded, her tone laced with feigned surprise. An airy chuckle escaped her lips as she tilted her head, her gaze never straying from Ivar's. She observed him carefully, her mind working to decipher his intent. The tavern was indeed an unusual place for serious business, it was a place of rest and revelry, and often a refuge for those seeking anonymity. Yet, his words suggested another layer to the ordinary.

Her eyes narrowed just a fraction, her grin staying firmly in place as she raised her mug in a mock toast. "Now, you've piqued my interest, Ivar," she playfully retorted, her voice cool and light with just a slight hint of a smile. "What kind of business could I possibly be here for?" Despite the playful exchange, Luna's mind was sharp, her senses keenly alert. If Ivar was hinting at any underhand dealings, she wanted to find out. She was an assassin so it made sense for her to want to know if he was someone she should be on her guard for. There was the possibility that this could all be a simple misunderstanding, but if it was more, she was going to figure it out, and perhaps, turn it to her advantage.
