Best pals in the making

Ivar found himself bouncing down the street, heading towards Luna's place. She had this really cool cottage at the edge of town, sort of tucked away from all the noise and stuff. It felt chill, somewhat quiet, and it just felt, well, it felt like a good place for a home. And then there was the garden. He thought Luna would be in there if she wasn't neck-deep in her magic books.

As he strolled up the little stone path, he couldn't help but stare at the place. He thought the cottage was nice. He wished he had his own home but then again he supposed he could afford one if he didn’t spend all his time at school. The neighborhood was nice enough to feel like he was being pulled in too. He laughed a little to himself. He didn't usually get all mushy like this, but Luna... well, Luna was different.

Finally, he was at the door, giving his hair a quick sweep back. He was feeling a bit jittery, because he'd never asked a girl out for a walk before. This was not supposed to be romantic but he could not help but hope that someday things would be. It wasn't exactly normal stuff, but then again, Luna wasn't just a normal girl, and he hoped that what they had wouldn’t be just a normal friendship.

He knocked on the door, listening to the sound echo. He really wanted her to say agree to come along with him. He wanted her to go on a walk with him during their break from school, away from the classrooms, the libraries, and all that magic. He wanted it to be just Ivar and Luna, just two friends, hanging out on a nice day. With the small sprinkle of crime if he could play his cards right.

Luna stood at her bed as the distinct knock echoed through her cozy home. She had not exactly been waiting for Ivar and she hadn’t known what day he’d show up, if ever. She was nonchalantly dressed in her regular outdoor attire, prepared for her trip to the marketplace later in the day. She made her way over to the door but as her hand reached for the door handle, she couldn’t help the little rush of adrenaline. Despite her efforts to play it cool, her anticipation was evident in her quickened breath and the eager sparkle in her eyes.

Pulling open the door, Luna greeted Ivar with a warm smile, the sunlight from the garden dancing on her face. "Ivar, you made it," she exclaimed, her joy genuine and unhidden. It pleased her that he had accepted her open invitation, that he felt comfortable enough to visit. His presence added an unexpected, yet welcome, thrill to her otherwise regular day. Her gaze swept over him briefly, noting his slightly nervous demeanor. It was endearing, and it brought a teasing sparkle to her eyes.

"well, no need to stand outside," she joked. The hint of mischief in her voice was unmistakable. Ivar's reaction to her dwelling was unexpectedly heartwarming. It was just a simple cottage, her refuge from the chaos of their shared school life during their short break, yet his appreciation made her see it in a new light. Drawing back from the door, Luna gestured for Ivar to come inside. "Welcome to my humble abode," she added, her tone taking on a playful formality.

The cottage, though small, was homely, with every item having its own story to tell. It was a stark contrast from the vast school buildings, its simplicity offering a comforting familiarity. Luna leaned against the doorframe, her eyes hinting curiosity as she wondered how she would entertain her guest.
