Personality Tyrann is the child of two nations, and this presents clearly in his character. His archontas is a member of the Coastal Nation and his foréas is the King of Tides. Coastal Neptori are known as strong communicators and peacekeepers who stabilise the relationships between all 5 Neptori Nations. Tidal Neptori are known as a proud and stubborn people. Tyrann straddles the line between both archetypes in that he knows when to compromise and when to stand his ground. Having been spoilt by a doting parent, whilst also being rejected by his princely siblings, Tyrann has both a sense of entitlement and a need to prove himself. Though much was handed to him, he has the strong desire to earn his way in the world.

History
Tyrann is the product of a coupling between Tryvic Sol’Miaren, the aging King of Tides, and Alénnos Xekourássi, a child of Clan Nepthys of the Neptori Coastal Nation, which guards the ruined city of Nepthalia at the southern cape of Ecith. Theirs was a Glade-Frost romance that began when King Tryvic made his first pilgrimage to the landed capital of his elven ancestors.

Nepthalia, once a coastal outpost of the Boundless Empire and later a powerful city-state in its own right, was a hallowed site in the eyes of the surviving scions of Sol’Miaren’s aquatic cadet branch. The Coastal Clan of Nepthys were the closest allies of the Tidal Nation to exist outside their direct oceanic dominion. Though they technically owed fealty to the Coastal King, Clan Nepthys were all but subjects of the Tidal Nation.

In his 225th year, Tide King Tryvic had yet to display any signs of approaching his deathly years. Still trim, toned and taut-skinned the handsome monarch strode forth from the surf to visit his ancestral demesne and pay his respects to his Sol’Miaren forebears. Many gifts and souvenirs were offered by the awe-struck coastal locals, but the treasure that caught his eye most was a youth of no political prominence… a nymph of the Coast named Alénnos Xekourássi two centuries his junior.

Prior to his pilgrimage, King Tryvic had been regarded as a stoic, stolid monarch. He was bound to three spouses and father to three princes: Trytonn, Tryveros and Tryvainn, but something had changed in him. Some say he was feeling the weight of his years and seeking to revisit the recklessness of youth, others say he was moved to decadence by the depictions he saw of his frolicking forebears in the ruins of Nepthalia. Whatever the case, the old king was moved to embark upon a frontier he’d never before broached: Childbearing.

In his first time as a foréas, King Tryvic bore and gave birth to a healthy baby sired by his Coastal swain. Due perhaps in part to his age and in part due to the unique connection of having nurtured this child to life with the bounty of his own body, the king doted wantonly upon his youngest child. Though the laws of the Tides viewed this half-Coastal infant sired by a Neptori of no repute as a bastard, Tyrann was Tryvic’s “Precious Pearl”. The child was gifted with as many titles and treasures as the doting Tide King could legally confer. Though Tyrann was not destined to be a prince, he was made Lord of the Surf and granted vassals at an aquatic estate called Kýmata Paláti on the outskirts of Nepthalia, where his archontas, Alénnos, still dwelt amongst his Coastal Clan.

Naturally, Tryvic’s spouses and three princely offspring resented the affection afforded the youngest child of the king. The princes had known a cold and callous sovereign, where Tyrann knew a warm and adoring parent. King Tryvic could command his family to be cordial to the child when he was present, but he could not force their affection or manage how they treated the royal bastard when outside his purview.

With the indulgence of the king and the mostly-passive hostility of his siblings, Tyrann grew up with a chip on his shoulder. He knew there was a stark ceiling to his ambitions if he were to remain in Caerulia. But he also knew he had an advantage over the vast majority of the Tidal Nation’s subjects. Being born half-Coastal, Tyrann was entirely amphibious. He could breathe as comfortably on land as underwater without extensive conditioning exercises or arcane assistance, which afforded him opportunities denied the others. In his twenty fifth year Tyrann decided to exploit this distinction.

The King of Tides was now 250 years old and still displaying no outward signs of aging, but it was well known that this would not always be so. Elves were prone to linger long in youth, only to decline sharply toward death when their time was nigh. Tyrann knew that he needed to make himself useful… ideally indispensable, if he was to survive the reign of Tryvic’s successor: Crown Prince Trytonn of the Reefs. So it was that Tyrann, Lord of the Surf, approached the King of Tides with a proposition. He would take to the land to learn of the most powerful realms amongst those who dwelt the dry dirt above sea level. He would travel to distant climes as Lord Ambassador of the Tides, where he would make inroads and seek methods of expanding the influence of their mighty nation even onto the land.

Aware of the dangers, King Tryvic was hesitant to allow his favourite child to undergo so precarious an exploit, and yet ultimately he couldn’t bring himself to deny his Precious Pearl anything. Tyrann was, after all, a trained practitioner of Traversion, who would be able to return home frequently to report in and spend time with his adoring king.

And so, Tyrann Xekourássi, Lord of the Surf, emerged from the waves at Nepthalia to serve his sea-bound nation on the frontier that was the land.
