The Plot to Raid Terra Nimbus I
Glade 9th, 123rd Year, A.o.S.

After a rather interesting visit with a house guest the day prior, Rickter had spent his evening doing what last-minute shopping he needed for this trip. The wolf knew to skim out on things like camping essentials and survival kits, knowing that this expedition would only be a swift trip up into the mountain range and back. Ivar was not wrong though when he called the plan ambitious, having spent time thinking about how easier it would be just to comb the peaks themselves for dragonshards.

But Rickter wanted those high-grade Illumite shards, and he knew the further up they traveled, the greater their odds are at landing clusters of them if anything. His night had been spent mounting the prep work necessary to carry out the contingencies he wanted to set in place, the wolf's focus having been spent on creating several lodestones of pure solid ice which looked like crystals once he finished.

With the Eclipse going on it was almost difficult to usually tell, but once the light of Dawn started to shine through his window, the wolf knew that his Bondmate was out there giving his gift of Light to the world. Rickter could only smile softly if not sluggishly, as he pressed a hand over the surface of his sternum in thought of the special connection they shared yet again. How much longer, he wondered, before he would finally have everything in place? Before he would finally ask that question to his beloved Packmates?

Time would only tell, and letting such thoughts distract him now would only hinder the effort. Rather than let that happen he used them as motivation, inspecting each icy lodestone on the table before him individually. The office wasn't normally the sort of workspace used for this type of project, however, Otis has been nothing short of accommodating when Rickter explained to him both the pressing issue and the stakes that were involved. All that Illumite would significantly help those along the lakeside, but, it would take the wolf at least another day or two before they were ready to be distributed also.

Luckily, he was getting all the practice he needed with Scrivening. As he sat close to the desk of the workspace he created, he reached over for one of the scoring tools that would allow him to carve into the ice. Knowing he'd channeled quite a substantial amount of his Divine energy into the lodestones, he had to consider the purpose of each one before simply carving Pictography into their bases. There were four in total that were going to be used for the journey, two of them were determinably anchors for his Negation magic once they were up there. The other two however were going to utilize Kinetics instead, those he looked rather forward to Scriven once the time came.

Alright, the first two are going to need a combined network of Pictographs. He reasoned with himself as he looked at the surface of the first lodestone, taking the scorer in his right hand so that the tip of the needle rested between his index and middle finger. Rickter pricked the tip into the ice carefully before he started to slowly draw out the first Pictograph he needed, chiseling it around until he etched the shape of a circle onto the surface of the lodestone. It was a good thing ice and the cold no longer bothered him, because the wolf suspected he would've needed gloves to continue handling the lodestone otherwise.

I need to make sure the network of these Pictographs is reactive with high-grade wards, the shieldcrafting itself doesn't have to be exceptional. Just emphasize the tasks that'll be necessary for them ahead. He reasoned with narrowed eyes on his work, as he worked with his hands to turn the lodestone at different angles, and etch lines across in four different directions from the first Pictograph etched in place. As he continued this the Dawnlight outside lessened into a gradual fade, marking the passage of time for Rickter as he continued his work on the first stone he held.

Each line scored from the core of his first pictograph branched out like a compass, before he carved more circular shapes with similar patterns etched into their cores. He needed them to house different layers of negation aether, tasked for different purposes so that the wards instilled in them after would be completely reactive. Rickter was nothing if not meticulous when it came to his wards, understanding the value of preparing them for whatever might be thrown his way. Once he finished the first lodestone, he then moved on to the next, while using the first one as a base template for his designs to follow.

There didn't need to be anything extra or complicated added to the second, but at the same time, the wolf didn't want to miss or confuse a step he made from the previous lodestone either. So it was best to take his time and eye the main one for comparison, and then simply etch the same design into the second Lodestone he worked on in turn. It took him another solid ten minutes before he had two lodestones with the same exact designs in them, the hefty chunks of ice rested on the tabletop before him as he rested his scorer back down. "Knock knock, Wolfman."

Rickter looked up from his work to peer past his shoulder, his eyebrows elevated from his weary eyes when he saw Hannah and Telion both at the door. The blonde who remained his beloved was situated in her wheelchair, escorted by the rogue as she gently pushed the crippled dancer into the room. "What are you doing up this early?" She was still in her nightgown which accentuated her motherly curves, all four of her limbs visible now as she looked remarkably healthy compared to a full season ago. Hannah wore her casual attire already, consisting of the blouse and leather pants she always wore around.

"I could be asking you the same thing!" He was enthused with a sleepy grin, not unaccustomed to long nights without sleep. "Shouldn't you still be in bed? The twins haven't even stirred yet." Not that they wouldn't before long, it was usually about this time of the morning they started to rise. Rickter hadn't heard them yet though, and when he listened for them, he could faintly hear them breathing with his sharpened hearing.

"I actually slept fine, though, you never came to bed last night." The mother pointed out with a soft smile, garnering a warmer grin from the wolf as he briefly glanced at the project he had partially finished.

"Ricky here is planning another trip up the Astralar Mountains." Hannah remarked with a playful smirk cast at him, giving the wolf a knowing look while he borderline narrowed his eyes at her subjectively.

"Really? What for?" The inquiry led him to debate a moment, until he remembered the other reason why a large quantity of Illumite shards would come in handy in the next few days.

"A horde of shadows is encroaching on villages found near Lake Udori. Nora sent word about them and asked if I might be able to help." He quickly covered with another smile pressed to his lips, leading the woman he loved to tilt her head and smile at him in return.

"Can I help?" It was a request he knew he wanted to entertain, although, given her recovered hand still needed time to properly heal.

"Keep me awake for a while? I could use the company." Telion could only beam at him then, as Hannah brought her closer to the desk where she could inspect his work from her angle.

"So I did a little of that digging yesterday," Hannah remarked as she pulled another chair from the second desk in the room. "Nothing outstanding on that Ivar guy you asked me about."

"So what all did you find out then?" He inquired as he realized Telion reached for one of the lodestones, cautious to let her touch it before she felt comfortable handling it. The ice did not threaten her the way it did that night of the Onishio attack, not when he now had better control over it than back then. Even so, the mother couldn't hold onto it for very long, before her hands grew cold and needed a break from inspecting the designs inscribed on the surface.
