Ash 1st
Endless rain and jungle rot, the night that never ends.
Was this horror brought about by mortals or gods’ sins?
The darkness walks the sun does balk and shadows do ascend.
Yet now Trees glow with holy light and hope upon their limbs.
At corners four of the world as sentinels to amend.
The cloak stretched across the sky so the sun may kiss our skins.
Quill in hand, Myles sat musing on the predicament of Drathera, and the world at large Myles cursed the never-ending werelight the world was cloaked in and the creatures that crept within the umbra that ensued. He’d been trying to practice his glyphs but the somber mood killed his productivity. His once ruddy palette had faded to a lighter grayer hue, lack of sleep and sunlight sapping the very vigor from his flesh. He and Eyla’s nightmares seemed to be growing worse either of them often startling awake to see the other already awake for the same reason. The dragonshard afflicting Eyla only seemed to be growing worse due to the eternal darkness that only served to embolden it’s wicked magic. With so much gloom ensuing the inhabitants of Drathera seemed to be moving with a haste he hadn’t seen from the Orkhan in some time. Curiosity getting the best of him he listened for snippets of common and the few words of the Ecithian language he knew, which was very very little. However from what he could tell, the people were preparing for dragons, which wasn’t inherently surprising considering drathera was the nesting ground of many, but this seemed to be of an intensity higher than the usual for the Orkhan, who seemed generally unbothered by most things. Often during their conversations they would point to the sky in a northern direction, towards the coast when mentioning the dragons. Finally unable to not know what was going on Myles counted out some copper coins and approached a stall selling fruits, the orcish woman at the standing a head taller than him despite being one of the smaller woman of the species.
“what dragons are coming?” he asked while handing over the coins to the woman… “Black, impossible to see against the night sky if not for the stars, it is a good omen” Unsure of what to make of that Myles nodded awkwardly at snatched up his fruit muttering a thank you before making his way back to Eyla, a plan now brewing in his head. Opening the door to the room he was renting, Myles spoke with more energy than he had in a while.
“Want to meet some dragons Eyla?”
