The Val'Nasennius Family and the Aure Consortium (Pharaoh / Talisman)

The Val'Nasennius family of Solunarium is an old and wealthy family, of the Populus Ex Re’ha caste. They've been around as long as any other family in the caste, and their beginnings started with a small piece of land growing melons and other food crops. For years, they slowly spread their land, feeding their vassals and living a comfortable life. Then the desert decided to challenge them. The sun seemed to grow hotter, the rains came more rarely, and a dust storms came more often.
The family persevered, but their numbers dwindled after years and years of hardship. When it seemed all would be lost, the youngest child of the family, a young girl named Aurea, hungry and thirsty, went to go pick the last of the melons the family would ever grow. As she approached, the winds picked up, and she stumbled, falling and crushing the melon, the water and flesh spilling into the uncaring sands. She just stayed there, kneeling, too thirsty to cry, feeling that she had just doomed her family.
She covered the destroyed melon in sand, and returned home to tell her family what had happened. It was the longest, most silent night she had ever known. That any of them knew. They knew they'd all be dead soon. However, Aurea went back out at night, the moons shining overhead, throwing herself down before the buried remnants of her family's hope. And she swore on that moment, swore that this family would never hope again, to never need it, to do whatever it took to survive.
And she grabbed those sand covered pieces of melon, taking them home, and she fed them to her siblings, her parents, taking none for herself. She gave them another day as they ate, as they took what little water was left in them, knowing that she would not be there to see it, a sacrifice she made.
The next morning when the family woke, Aurea was dead. When her father carried her out to bury her in the sands with all the rest of those they lost, he stopped, seeing that a field of flowers had sprouted where the melons had once grown, each of them a deep indigo hue. He looked down at his daughter and knew that the desert had responded. Aurea was buried there in the field, and the Val'Nasennius family was reborn with the indigo flowers.
The family survived, and began to grow and increase their wealth with the dyes made from the indigo flowers. Such a vibrant hue that couldn't be replicated gave them a corner on the market and the family became very wealthy over the years. They expanded their business into a consortium named Aure of family owned businesses to include many more high end dyes and textiles, as well as the fashionistas that worked with them. It wasn't long until the Val'Nasennius Indigo was purchased to be used in the Senatorial Regalia after the family's Senator wore it. After that, their business soared and is a regular name among the elite and wealthy that can afford their goods. They kept their business tight and only in family control, not allowing any to gain an ounce of control and have maintained that to this day.
The main branch of the family keeps a palatial estate in the Aurecine district, and any member of the family is welcomed without invitation. Vopisca and Voren can usually be found there conducting their duties as leaders of the family and the Consortium.
OOC: Any wishing to create a business within the Aure Consortium must be related by blood, not marriage. Married spouses may have jobs within the individual businesses but may never be in control of them. Contact the Solunarium Moderator team about joining the family as a PC.
