Dear Stefan Dornkirk......

Or should I be addressing you as First Minister Dornkirk now? Regardless I hope that when this letter finds you.....if it even makes it to you, you are well. I wish I could discuss much with you over this letter, but I believe it is a conversation best left to be done in person. That being said, I have taken note of the state of things, and have seen the growth that has taken place in the homeland. I will admit, it is still too early to tell. It's still too early to tell much about this new government you are building, and more so about the place mages will have in it.

That brings me to why I am writing you, as I wish to see that for myself, hear it from the mouth of the man himself. I ask that you meet with me. I know that it would be foolish of me to ask you to come alone, and I'm fine with that. All I ask is that if you choose to meet me, you come with an open mind, as I will come with an open mind. I hope we can reach an accord that allows us both to build a new and better Zaichaer. ⚜

Sincerely,
The Last Wolf of House Monteliyet

18th Searing, 124 Age of Steel

My dear Stefan—

(I believe fate has put us so far into each other's business at this point that we can dispense with formality, but if you disagree, I will apologize and resume societal expectations.)

While visiting colleagues and friends at the Tranquil Gardens, I was asked to consult upon the strange case of a Dreyfus Monteliyet of Zaichaer.

The long and the short of it is, he is a Vitalitasi and bound to a Spirit of Betrayal. The Spirit has caused him to do violence while unconscious, but he quit the premises to look for some other means to divorce himself from the spirit. He is under the impression that he was betrayed, though the spirit told me that it considered him kindred because of his betrayals.

Regardless, bearing the Rune itself is not illegal in Kalzasi despite its connections to the Cult of Mending. I do not know if he intends to return to Zaichaer, but I thought it incumbent upon me to to share this information. I cannot say whether he has, as he said, only killed in self-defense or is likely to feed upon your people. I am attaching copies of the report I made with the hospital and the constabulary so that you and your brother-in-law have a fuller account and assessment.

I hope your family is well. Please send pictures of the little ones.

Your friend,

Kala
