APPEARANCE
Olga Barber hides a slender figure under practical and sturdy clothing - usually, the standard military uniform. She tends to her hair and face only so much as is required. Her face, devoid of any hint of color (by way of sun or makeup), and her black hair is kept short and neatly styled. Her eyes, bright and green and curious, are her only vanity, and enough ornamentation for a woman far more concerned with her work than her appearance.

HISTORY
Middling bureaucrats and as loyal to the Gelerian Imperium as anyone else, Greta and Hans Barber hadn’t great expectations for themselves - or their daughter, Olga. They’d welcomed her to this life with little fanfare, and raised her without much more. And yet, despite their clear satisfaction with their own lot, Olga grew up clearly wanting more. While her parents navigated the intricacies of governance, Olga found herself drawn to the miracles of magecraft, and in particular, to Artifice.
While at the Imperial Academy of Arcana Science, Olga made little strides socially, but she’d rarely concerned herself with the other students. She proved herself to be impatient and difficult with other students, but her reputation with them wasn't a worry for her. Soon enough, Olga’s talent with world magics set her apart. Her teachers recognized her intellect and innovative approach to Artifice and Scrivening and she was permitted time and resources to cultivate her skills. She thrived as a student, graduating from the Academy early, with distinctions, and hungry to test the worth of her golems on the battlefield.
Like any Imperial son or daughter, Olga had spent her life dreaming of military service. She’d dreamed of impact. The reality of service crushed her. The army was a cruel hierarchy, one Olga struggled to navigate. While whispers of her genius had echoed throughout the Academy, she found herself in constant arguments with her superiors and fellow soldiers. Olga saw her reputation crumble, and watched as students she’d so easily outdone at the Academy surpassed her.
Olga finished her four years of service without any accolades or accomplishments, but with a keen understanding of the fine line between recognition and obscurity. She’d failed at playing war, but her craft only deepened. Olga’s strategies and gunmanship hadn’t won her any favors, but her golems still dazzled - so long as she had the resources to create. Terrified that she might one day become just another forgotten name among many, Olga realized she had to foster the talents she had, and discard any others that didn’t serve her ambitions.
With her sights set high, Olga was determined to carve out a legacy that would inspire future generations. She would become the foremost Artificer in Gelerian Imperium - and then, the world.
