To Health and Recovery
Ash 7th, 120th Year, AoS
(Continued from here)
The late evening revelries out in the streets of Kalzasi filled the night as always, but within the main building of the Tranquil Gardens, things were quieter to a much noticeable degree. Patients in other rooms either coughed or wailed, from whatever ungodly ailments plagued them, as nurses and doctors shuffled about to scurry with their work. Make no mistake this place here was just as busy as the world outside was, but for the trio that had been admitted into one of the medical observation rooms; all sounds were muffled to almost a near silence in their wait for a doctor.
Telion stood near the window of their room looking out, admiring the bokeh of lights within the distance, as they even shimmered across the quiet waves of Lake Udori. The room itself was pretty standard in design, with white paneled walls with wooden flooring, a few chairs, and counters for storing any medical supplies. Hannah had taken to sit in the chair closest to the windows, likely because she didn't want to keep too far from Telion, while the wolf himself sat on the other side, with a lean forward and a mind certainly elsewhere.
"Does it still hurt?" Telion checked with Hannah first as she turned to inspect the scratches, where there were four thin but long rakes that went down along her spine. Her friend, however, simply shook her head softly, with the coin pouch tossed at her earlier fumbled into each hand thoughtfully.
"The pain's gone for sure, how about you... Wolfman?" The brunette assured the bard before checking on Ricker himself, who only briefly looked to the pair of women before lowering his gaze once more.
"I'm fine." Were the only words he gave to them, his thoughts spent on the moment the Iron Queen walked inside that room. He was so intimidated by her he almost felt the shivers lingering, a question as to whether or not he should actually heed the invitation that Aoren extended also lingered. Hannah seemed to sigh and toss the coin pouch she held at him, making the wolf actually jump when it pelted his left peck.
"Before you get any ideas, I've already taken out my cut for the jacket." The brunette remarked as she looked to the torn clothing on the arm of her chair, an irritable but reasonable look given to Rickter afterward. "The rest was meant for you." The wolf reluctantly looked down and picked up the pouch that'd fallen into his lap, thoughtful of the moment Sahfri had thrown it to her instead of him. Why? He had a rather small number of questions multiplying now, but also wanted to just get out of there and be done with his night.
"...I hope the doctor or nurse comes soon." He admitted as he tucked the pouch into his pocket, garnering a light chuckle from Telion as she turned to face him from the window.
"Don't like hospitals much?" She teased him, to which the wolf bluntly looked to her.
"Not really." He remarked to her in turn, crossing arms as he ignored the stings on his left shoulder.

The Siltori had just placed the last of her tools in the cupboard, when Heowynne suddenly burst into the room panting. “Healer d’Svaris, you are requested in the treatment room.”
“You know my shift is over, Heowynne. Shouldn’t you be looking for Healer Veya?” It had been over for almost an hour, but the woman had decided to stay a bit to check on one of her fussier patients – an old woman with a wound that refused to heal – and finish some records. “Between being thrown up on and yelled at today, I really want to get home.”
Her assistant looked down and fidgeted with her own fingers. “I did. Healer Veya said she’ll be in a meeting for a while and said to see if you’re still in the building.”
She raised an eyebrow. “A meeting? As in chatting and having tea with a Lady whatever?”
The silence meant yes. Iselya sighed as she slipped a strand of black hair behind her pointed ear. Everyone knew that Gelunia Veya had ambitions to marry into the nobility. So when the opportunity presented itself, her senior would not miss the chance to curry some favor even if it meant abandoning her duties. While she was no under obligation to cover for her, but the last time Gelunia had one of her meetings it lasted two hours.
Cursing under her breath, Iselya got out her necromantic tools once more and let Heowynne lead her to the room. She ran her hand down her skirt and just realized she had already changed out of her robe. Blood would be pain to wash out her pink dress. Let’s hope it wouldn’t be a messy one. She turned to Heowynne. “You should get the rest of my supplies.”
When Iselya opened the door, her eyes took note of the three people inside. A short blonde-haired woman, a brunette, and a burly-looking man. It was a relief that they all were conscious and talking. Nothing too severe then. Perhaps she could finish it quickly. Iselya offered a dimpled to each one of them as she spoke, “I’m Healer d’Svaris and I’ll be your doctor for the night. How can I help you?”

Upon hearing the door to the room they were in opening the trio all looked toward the new arrival, relief plainly visible on all their faces now that their medic had arrived. Although... while the other two weren't really aware of it, Rickter on the other hand noticed her lack of robes when she walked in. A woman in a pink dress? Odd. Was she a nurse or part of the staff? Maybe even new to the gardens in general? There could've been quite a few reasons as to why a lady such as her would come barging in, but it became all the more evident that she would in fact be their healer. "Hello lady d’Svaris, it's a pleasure to see you." Telion greeted as she still lingered near the window, a welcoming smile generated to the healer when she entered the room.
"At last." Hannah started before her eyes fell not upon the healer, but on the tools she already had within her possession. Disgust then filled her eyes when she realized what they were, leading the brunette to look away venomously while she remained seated in her chair. Rickter noticed the behavior she displayed, eyeing briefly with curious intent, before looking back to Telion when she spoke once more.
"We just need a bit of patchwork is all, both my friends here were injured briefly." Telion lightly explained as she hadn't really elaborated on the event that caused them, no doubt suspecting that some kind of word had reached the Tranquil Gardens by now. When the bard looked over to Rickter, who was the most obvious case, she gestured to him as the wolf barely looked to Iselya in general, almost as though he deferred to avoiding eye contact with her. Upon his left shoulder several inches away from the collar bone, several long scratches raked down toward the peck of his exposed torso, covered by what had to be makeshift bandages from a tunic that had been wrapped over the wound in a shoddy manner.
"This is Rickter also, he's still a bit shaken after what happened. My friend there," the bard nodded to the brunette, "is named Hannah. And I'm Telion, it's a pleasure to meet you!" Hannah scoffed lightly after hearing that, her arms crossed as she showed quite a bit of low-level resentment in turn. Rickter on the other hand remained passively silent as he observed, indirectly, how the healer interacted with the two before him. He mostly just hated being there and preferred to go home, so that he could sleep off the weariness he felt, and simply let the wound heal on its own over time. However, Telion wasn't going to let that happen, hell she'd even made it quite clear with the wound, preferring a medic to examine it to ensure no infection occurs over time.
So the wolf merely sat there, a brief glimpse at his wound once more, his stoic demeanor blended with a perplexingly somber expression.

Iselya grinned at the greeting as she walked over to the steel cart and started laying out instruments. A mixed collection of mundane and magical tools. She had always been a bit particular on how they must be laid out – scalpels and scissors on the left, forceps on the right, and necromantic ones on the bottom. “I can assure you, I am no lady. You can simply call me Iselya if Healer d’Svaris is too mouthful.”
It was difficult miss brunette’s hostility by her mannerism, but the healer pretended not to notice. With that in mind, Iselya walked over to Rickter first as she tied her hair back, tugging the cart with her. He wasn’t looking at her and stayed silent at the whole introduction while Telion played the mouthpiece. They were most certainly an interesting trio.
Placing a chair directly in front of the man, the healer sat down and leaned closer to inspect. “Mind telling me what caused this injury precisely?” she asked, snipping away at the makeshift bandage and unwrapping it from the man’s chest gently, especially on spots where it stuck to the wound. His blood had nearly seeped through the fabric entirely and judging from the dampness it hadn’t been too long since he had gotten them. The man had multiple lacerations across the torso, their edges uneven and the wounds relatively deep. It would need a few sutures to make sure it could close properly.
“Your injuries aren’t too serious,” she announced, leaning back as she locked eyes with the man in front of her. “You have two options regarding to treatment once I cleaned and stitched it up: I can simply bandage it and let it heal for a weeks or I can apply sinew threads and significantly speed up the healing process.”

Hannah looked to be rather happy that she'd be second in line for treatment, mostly due to the fact her injuries were still minor in comparison to Rickter's. Rest assured she still likely needed medical attention as well, but the severity of her scratches was minimal compared to the ones the wolf evidently had. Truthfully, when the woman Iselya came up to him, his thoughts were no longer an easy distraction to him then. His blue eyes always remained averted and indirect when faced with the healer, as it was always a habit of his to just avoid direct eye contact with other people. Over time he'd grown to slightly allow it with others but that was Telion mostly, and even then he still remained adamant about their stares lingering for too long.
Still, the call for details on what caused the wound was brought up, and right away it seemed like Iselya went to work on removing the bandages. Telion of course smiled a little nervously granted those makeshift bandages were from her tunic, undoubtedly aware of her inexperience in properly treating wounds with bandages. "Um..." The wolf reluctantly began with a glance at his companions, the two ladies staring at him as they waited for him to begin. Hannah even gestured a hand towards him, more or less to prompt him to continue onward, while Telion relaxed in her chair with a mindful eye on Rickter in turn. Was she thinking of speaking for him again? It wasn't really necessary in all honesty, and yet, Rickter found appreciation where it was due on her behalf.
"It was at the High Hopes Tavern... The ring was opened tonight and I participated." He started as he relived the beginning of the event, his memory taking him back to the drawn-out fight with that Ork earlier.
"He was actually doing fairly well too." Telion weighed in with a soft grin, still mindful of the wolf but of the healer as well. It was easy to see that in her eyes, the concern she held for Rickter was there, mixed with the intent to learn from watching a professional at work.
"It was after I lost though that these things... just sorta attacked." He almost began to shrug but remembered not to move, as she was still carefully peeling off the bloodied fabric one piece at a time. Rickter had to admit the nurse had quite a practiced hand in doing that, along with the patience necessary to minimize the discomfort as well. While he hardly ever showed such a thing outright, the pain he felt was next to nonexistent when she continued her work, although with the way he left off with the story the poor lady was likely baffled by what he meant.
"Basically that attack on someone of noble birth happened right in front of us." Hannah's turn to weigh in came it seems, as she leaned over to one rest against the arm of the chair with her legs tucked together underneath her. "Those that partook imbibed in something Gods awful, and slashed at whoever was in their way as they went for this poor man."
"Rickter actually jumped in to help fend them off too," Telion pitched in once more still with an observant watch, "and... he actually got scratched up in the process."
"Such is how that went down for everyone present," the brunette continued thoughtfully with a look at her fingernails, "thankfully the injuries were only minimal when everything was over."
"...Yeah..." Rickter started once more seeing as how they were better off elaborating on the event than he was. "I kinda just ignored it until I realized I was bleeding." The thought was admitted aloud as he sheepishly looked at his wound then, surprised that it turned out to be a little worse than he initially thought prior to their visit. Still, it was hardly anything he couldn't heal from in turn, although Iselya did seem to present an offer on what treatment was available. "I'd rather just let it heal naturally honestly..."
"That may be, but she can help patch it up regardless Rickter. Do you prefer the recovery to be speedy or normal?" Telion inquired as she knew she would need to press the issue, otherwise, Rickter himself would only elect to treatment and leave. The wolf sighed a little bit through his nostrils then, tilting his head to the sides a couple of times to work the tension out of his neck. A couple of pops could be heard when he did so, and the wolf only lingered on the matter for a moment longer, before he finally tilted his head back and closed his eyes in turn.
"I suppose it couldn't hurt to try the quicker option then." He remarked in turn with his gaze directed towards Iselya once more, still unable to meet with her eye to eye though when he did.
