Ash 68th, 120.
It had only been a few day since his little adventure into the Warrens. A place he was interested in venturing to in the future. But for now he had other tasks to take care off. The cold air brushing against his skin as he pulled the cloak closer to his body. Words had passed around the streets. Chatter on places of great interest in the city. Conversations that had been started by Galius himself. He was still new to the city. Learning what he could in such a short time might be a bit of an overwhelming task for some. But Galius relished in it. He had seen the items that the mysterious mage had carried in the Warrens. And his curiosity had gotten the better of him. He had to figure out where they came from and if he could acquire some himself.
Boots clattered across the cobbled stone as he moved through the crowd. Find the place wasn't difficult. Many knew about it, maybe because of what it sold. Or maybe it was because of who ran it. The supposed Prince of this city operated the Forge. But that wasn't the only curiosity that peaked his interest. The name that rolled off of an older woman's lip hung on Galius' ears. Talon. The same name of the Avialae warrior inside of the Warrens. He couldn't help but wonder if they were the same person. And if they were, than Galius would have much more interest in the rest of the royal family.
As the distance between the Orkhan and the store were closed. Galius looked upon the building. It was about what he expected. Not outwardly fancy though not indistinguishable from the others. His knuckles tapped against the door before he pushed it open. "Excuse my intrusion but I had heard about this place and couldn't help but stop by." Galius wasn't sure what shop owner wouldn't be happy to see a costumer. But it was still important to be polite. His eyes glanced around the interior of the building. It was more impressive than the outside.
"My name is Galius Antonious. Seventh Son. I am interested in some of your wares." He spoke into the air as he looked around.

Talon was carefully inspecting the material in front of him. He ran his fingers over the metal, inspecting every inch of the plate greave for any sign of a flaw or a deformity. There were none to be found in his eyes and he had spared no end of effort in working the forge to ensure it was without any throughout the entire process. If there had been even the slightest hint of an error, Talon had started over from scratch. He did not care about the time or cost of the matter, he refused to leave anything to chance when it came to the completion of this particular project. Every single piece had to be the absolute pinnacle of what he was capable of forging with the materials he had gathered and the objective he had in mind.
“We have a bit more work to do, Velkan.” Talon looked up from the plate greave. His grey eyes came to rest upon his apprentice who nodded. “You have done well. Go prepare the forge. We need to get to work on the next leg of the project.”
As Velkan was turning to make his way down the stairs to the forge proper, there was a knock on the door to the shop. Talon looked to the doorway as it opened. The man who stepped inside was one who Talon briefly recognized as someone who had accompanied him into the deeps of the Warrens not but a few days prior. He smiled at the Orkhan as he entered. Stepping from behind the counter he rest one hand lightly behind his back. The other he raised and motioned for Galius to enter into the shop more comfortably.
“Welcome, Galius. I believe I remember you from the events not but a few days ago.” Talon walked forward. He tucked his wings in close so that he could maneuver down the aisle toward his guest. The interior of the Skyforge was well lit with the light of crystal sconces that were obviously fashioned from some manner of dragonshard. The room was spacious, certainly spacious enough to provide room for not only the display of wares that lined the walls and floor but also for many customers to be inside at the same time with room to be comfortable. Along the aisle leading up to the counter there were stands showcasing sets of armor. There was chainmail, plate armor, and even leather armor as well as robes and racks of boots. They were all of fine quality and free of dust or debris. Along the wall to Galius right hung racks displaying various tools, including what appeared to be blacksmithing tools. Along the wall to the Orkhan’s left were stands showcasing various weapons from bows, to swords and daggers, to staves and even a display case showing off wands. Nearest to the main counter was a display case within which were various pieces of jewelry and accessories.
The air smelled of a mix of various spices, earthly metals and just a touch of ozone that accompanied the work of a runesmith who reforged the very fabric of things to their vision. Despite being a mostly enclosed space, the air was not stuffy and upon close inspection, there were small windows open along the ceiling to allow for controlled open air ventilation.
“I am Talon. This is the Skyforge. What exactly is it that you are looking for? Perhaps I can be of assistance.”

Turning on the ball of his heels as the larger winged man approached. A smalls mile curved at the corners of his mouth. What people said was true. Granted he had no reason to believe that they wouldn't be. But you never knew how people were in a new town. "Ah Ser Talon. It is nice to see you again. I have to say I didn't expect to see you here. Is this your place?"
The Skyforge? It was a fair and fitting name. The items and weapons that lined the walls and shelves were of great works. Each seemingly more impressive then the next. "Well.. I am looking for answers." he said in a rather monotone voice. While vague his response wasn't false. He was looking for answers. A scholar of sorts always looking for the next problem and solution to stumble upon. His eyes scanned down the isle before looking back towards Talon. "But I suppose that isn't the answer you are looking for. I would like to enchant my sword. Having enhanced protection would be great. After seeing what lurks in the warrens."
Taking a few steps away from Talon as he looked upon the shelves again. Fingers brushing against the shelves. There was no dust. No sign of disregard you might see in some shops. It was intriguing. If Talon was the Prince of this city and the owner of the store. Than he ran an extremely tight ship and that was rather impressive for someone juggling two jobs. "Speaking of protection. I would like to venture into the warrens again. Not no of course. But in the future and having some armor or wards to help with the undead threat... They would be appreciated."
Moving from the boots, he looked up towards the weapons. More examples of fine craftsmanship. Though he wasn't keen on moving from the sword he carried at his side. The Ork studied the nearest blade. Eyes tracing along the edge of it. Upon inspection it was sharp enough to cut. The blade was of pure make and the metal seemed strong. Turning again to walk back towards Talon. "You'll have to forgive me, I am new to the city and do not know of many customs. But I was curious if I could ask you a few questions. Aside from the recommendations for the things that I asked of you." Pausing for a moment. Trying his best to not overwhelm the patron. "If you would be so kind"

“It is. I have owned this shop for some time now.” Many questioned why he felt the need to own and operate his own establishment when he could have just managed the affairs of his family’s estate. Certainly Novalys Mining Company brought in a substantial amount of revenue for his family, he could have spent his time overseeing those matters. Much like his brother however, Talon wanted to be able to stand and contribute something on his own. It was a point of pride and one that their parents approved of. They attended to their family duties when it was expected of them, balancing life at the palace with life among the common people. Some day, Talon expected that he would have to surrender more and more of his time to the responsibilities of more political affairs but for the time being, he saw his shop as a sanctuary.
“I can provide enchantments. Depending on the manner of enchantment will determine the extent of the cost.” As Galius mentioned wanted more armored protection, Talon took stock of the Orkhan in front of him for a moment. The man had the posture of someone accustomed to hard work and he had certainly proven himself capable enough in the Warrens.
“There are a variety of ways to provide enchanted protection, sir. I can fashion something for you. It can either be something of simple physical enhancement, a set of clothes that are more resistant to piercing and damage or I can provide something more elaborate.” He ran a hand through his hair as he collected his thoughts. The possibilities were practically endless in the manner of things that Talon could create if he were given the time and resources to create it. It all depended on what his clientele wanted.
“My recommendation will depend on the extent of your funds, resources and the timeline I have to work with. If you are looking for something more affordable that can be done relatively quickly, a simple physical enhancement is what I suggest. I can reforge the aether of your sword to make it so that it will never dull, never rust and cut through steel like butter. I can take the material of your clothes and make a robe strong enough to stop a blade without tearing.” Talon spoke matter-of-factly. There was no grand-standing to his speech, merely statements of his capabilities. He saw no need to brag. These were things that he could do. He had done them many times for many different customers and even friends.
“If it is something more elaborate that you are looking for, I can fashion a ring that can project a barrier of force to protect you. I can grant your sword the ability to cut through not just the material but the immaterial as well.” He shrugged his broad shoulders and gestured around at his shop. “It is up to you and what you are searching for.”
Folding his arms over his chest, Talon inclined his head.
“Ask your questions. If I can answer them, I will.”

The suggestions were more then adequate. Though more questions formed in his head. How long had he been crafting? Why did he do it? Was it from some want to add protection or just a necessity of life while using the skill he had. Money made the world work. Every city was built upon a pile of gold and blood. Every single person longed for more money. If it was from greed or a want to push their own dreams ahead. Galius understood it. The Orkhan had spent more time with money then he really cared to. His interest lied further beyond in the arcane and seeking knowledge. Turning back to face Talon with a small smile.
"All of those things sound great. Though I take pride in giving my sword maintenance. How much would the robes and the ability to cut ethereal matter cost?" The ability to slice through spiritual people would be more then useful if he were to take another trip down into the warrens. Which he was very interested in doing so. His last trip had been exciting to say the least. But there were things down there that Galius wanted to know more about. The creatures that lived there. Next time he would be more prepared. Armed with a weapon that could deal with the wraiths and gear to collect whatever they might leave behind. There was confidence in Talon's voice. A confidence that Galius appreciated. Any craftsman worth their weight didn't have to brag. The clearly stated what they can do and offered the service out right. They didn't have time to fool around nor did they care to. At least from his experience.
"How long have you been working in the business of enchanting?" The question was more of an ice breaker than anything. Galius' curiosities laid beneath the city and around it more so than Talon's personal life. But it was good to get the information. Pushing the hilt of the sword with his hand so the rings clinked a bit as he took a moment to ponder and let Talon answer. After which he would nod and scratch his chin. The look on his face was plain. No twitching eyebrow or quivering lip to give away any insight into his mood. After a few more seconds of silence, Galius would speak again.
"I am unknowledgeable when it comes to enchanting. Though the subject has interested me a great bit. I work with metals and jewels on a regular but I have never taken the time to dive in. Would it be possible for me to watch you work sometime? Of course I wouldn't ask without offering something in return. But I do not know what a mine like yourself would take in return." His voice monotone as he spoke. Locking his eyes with Talon's. Trying to show that his inquiry was serious and that the words that he spoke were true.

“It would depend on how much of the material I must provide versus how much you provide for me to work with.” Talon gestured to one of the mannequins displaying a full set of simple looking chainmail armor. “Something for which I furnish the entirety of the materials is going to cost you quite a bit both in terms of raw resources and hours put into the forge.”
The chainmail was simple in design. At first glance, there was no difference between it and the armor that might have been worn by the Sky Guard. However, upon close inspection, each ring of the chainmail was carefully etched with geometric shapes that were the hallmarks of pictography. The magic inlaid into each link in the chainmail reinforced its impenetrability making the armor much tougher and durable than ordinary steel. It was also considerably lighter than what normal armor would have been, an added touch to allow for the wearer to remain more maneuverable while having the benefit of heavy armor protection.
“I could reinforce the clothes you are wearing right now. It would only take me a week to reinforce them with basic enhancements. It would not be anything spectacular but it would be enough to gain the benefit of being able to deflect the blows of all save for skilled assailants.” He let that settle in the air between them before moving on to the second half of Galius’ proposal.
“Several hundred gold avens. It would, again, depend on if I am gathering the raw materials myself or they are being provided. If all you require is my forging, significantly less.” Talon let his gaze trail over some of the other objects on display in his shop. “Most do not come with their own materials so I must get the work done myself.”
He let Galius mull over what he had said in regards to the cost of making such items for him. If Galius had an idea of where he could get materials that Talon could then forge into what he desired, that would reduce the cost a great deal. It was then just a matter of Talon applying his skills, not having to scrounge together the components to both create and manifest the enchantment and items themselves.
“You are a jewelcrafter?” Talon mulled that knowledge over. He was in need of a more skilled jeweler. Talon knew enough to make simple things such as a ring or a bracelet. But he was in need of more in-depth knowledge on how to work and create more complex pieces. It was either that or he was going to have to hire a skilled jeweler. Vicis, it seemed, had presented him with an opportunity.
“Are you looking for work? I am looking for another hand to join my staff here in my workshop. I pay well and it would mean you could be taken on as one of my apprentices. You could learn to lay these enchantments upon your belongings yourself.” He gestured to the array of magical objects that were on display in his shop. Talon had one apprentice already and he was glad for the help but he was beginning to see a need for yet another pair of hands. He saw no harm in offering the position to Galius. The man had at least proven he was capable in the Warrens. Besides, if he was a jewelcrafter, that meant in exchange for learning from him then Talon could learn what Galius had to teach as well.

There was a hinge on every plan. An issue that would slow it down to a crawl. Galius had money but not enough to exactly throw away. Still there were work arounds. Accruing materials wasn't exactly the hardest thing to do. There were often merchants who carried bits of raw material. But he could also just buy the items in itself. He had armor, though it was not on him at the moment. Armor and his sword at a reduced cost would make it easier for him. "I would much rather gather the material myself.." He said plainly. Any business man could understand wanting to reduce the cost. Besides it wasn't like he was trying to take away Talon's business. In fact it was quiet the opposite. Galius was curious as to the mans skills.
If they were anything like his fighting skills. Then Galius was sure that he was the best smith in town. If not the only rune-smith. Galius could see the items that were set on display. Each was crafted well and with plenty of talent. But there was a difference between custom work and that which was produced for display.
"It is rare for people to be prepared for the things that they request. Much like I myself am not prepared. Though I came for more of a curiosity at what this place was. And who it belonged to. I must say that my curiosity is more than satisfied. " The Ork's attention turned back towards the shelves. Admiring the craft again before Talon's question caught him at surprise. Turning to face the man fully once again. Galius tilted his head slightly. "I am in practice. Though there is much for me to learn." A factual statement as Galius was far from the best. But he was capable.
Able to form rings and amulets. Giving them design to make them more unique. Setting gems was something he was currently working at. Though the ideal behind the technique was simple enough. There was some challenge to getting it just right. Though the offer that came after was more interesting. Galius had simply requested a chance to sit in. What Talon offered was far more of an exchange that benefited the Orkhan greatly. Knowledge and pay were things he could use greatly.
"I would be more than happy to work with you."

“Very well. Gather the materials. You need only collect that which you wish to have the strength of. If it is steel you wish, bring me steel. If it is a tough hide, bring me that hide. Typically, I will need the same amount as what your clothing currently weighs. If you can match that or exceed it then I will have more than enough. Following that, I suspect it will only cost around two-hundred and fifty gold avens for me to produce the basic enhancements.” Talon waited for the Orkhan’s response to his second inquiry. He did not miss the very pointed way in which Galius emphasized the nature of the working relationship. He chuckled. He was not a man who took advantage of the work of his employees or partners. Running a hand through his hair, Talon thought on the logistics of what such a relationship would involve.
“So be it. You are welcome to set up shop within my own spaces. However, if it will be with me that you work and not for me, I will make an accord with you.” Looking around the main floor of his shop, Talon set his gaze upon an empty lab space that was still in the works. He pointed to it.
“You are welcome to utilize that space as your jewelers workshop. My customers will become your customers as well. The raw materials that are brought into my shop to fuel my works, you are welcome to select from in order to fashion your wares. In exchange for the workspace and the raw materials that you have access to, I am entitled to a discount on your services when I require the hands of a skilled jeweler.” Folding his arms over his chest, Talon quirked his head and stared at the Orkhan with a friendly smile.
“How does that sound to you, sir?”

It wasn't that Galius had a problem working under someone. Employment was a basic necessity if one was to live a comfortable life. No, it was the simple thought that he craft would be for someone else's gain. Equal opportunity was the name of the game. His skill for space to work it. His knowledge for others knowledge. Equal trade.
"That seems more then fair. Of course, I respect that this is your shop. I would be more then happy to pay in some way." He spoke in a monitored tone. As if he was afraid of saying the wrong thing. Rubbing his thumb against his index finger, he waited for a moment. Thinking about what he would say next. The conversation was laid out already. The offer had been made and he had no reason to try to alter it further. He could save up and buy his own space. Though working under an establishment like the bank wasn't on his list of wants. The method was slow, slower then he would like. Besides that Talon seemed like a genuine enough person. At first glance he seemed to be a reasonable person.
"Then it seems we have ourselves a deal.." he held out a hand to shake. Progress was always appealing. But this was more, or had the potential to be at the very least. He could learn and practice on his own craft and potentially learn another. It was a step to achieving his never ending list of goals. "Shall I begin the process of setting up or is there something more you'd like to do before hand?"
