Appearance
Stefan is a tall, lean, well-built individual with a quietly commanding air. He served in the Air Defense Corps for several years, and though his service involved mostly desk work he has kept himself in fighting shape. He keeps his fawn-colored hair short enough to never get in his dark-grey eyes, but often forgets to cut it until it does. Though the majority of his work and social life is spent indoors he spends enough time in the sun to avoid the pallor of those chained to a desk.
Personality
Outwardly Stefan appears to be everything one might expect from the heir to his father's empire. He is precise, careful, intelligent, educated, with the military air found most attractive inZaichaersociety. Under the initial mask, he has a quiet sense of humor and a mind for deep thought. He is secretly shy, something his parents never indulged, so it comes out in headaches when forced to socialize for too long and needing long hours alone. His work allows him a lot of time either alone, or in the controlled social environment of running the design department of Dornkirk Windworks, which suits him well. His employees know him as a fair and understanding man, even as he demands, and often brings out, their best.
Those few who know him well will see the stark difference between the man he is in public and the one he is in private. When in private he becomes quiet, preferring to fade into the background and let others lead. His true personality lies somewhere between the two, in the shadows of the man.
History
As the eldest son of an illustrious father, Stefan was raised in the exacting manner of unforgiving expectation. For reasons that none of the family understood, Stefan chaffed at the discipline and rigors of his education and upbringing more than his younger brother, Brenner did. The younger Dornkirk son came not even a full year after Stefan's birth and despite their differences in personality, they were close throughout their childhoods.
Luckily for the boy, he excelled in the family business, Dornkirk Windworks, in nearly every aspect. His nursery was covered in drawings of airships, and later, detailed schematics. As he grew toward adulthood he was introduced to many influential people, and while he never failed to impress he found the constant pull to perform exhausting.
When he turned eighteen his father insisted that he join the Air Defense Corps to get a feel for the real lives of the men who depended on the ships the family business provided. He served five years and attained the rank of Luitenant before being honorably released back into civilian life. His education as both future-head-of-house and owner of the business was now put into practice as he took over the design department of Dornkirk Windworks. He was expected to learn every aspect of the business, from suppliers to final rollout, and here, he excelled.
In his role as socialite and eligible bachelor, less so. Stefan proved to be better at avoiding his societal duties than performing them. Not exactly shy, he finds spending time in the company of mostly strangers uncomfortable at best. He puts on a good face when needed, does his duty like a good soldier, which is how he appears when in public.
His parents, Melchior and Sylana, expected him to marry well, do honor to the family name and produce heirs worthy of it. For the first five years after leaving the Air Defence he made the excuse that he had to concentrate on learning the business. Now, at thirty, his grasp of the business often outstrips that of his father, and his excuses are growing thin.
