History
Born to a line of high ranking officers within the Zaichaer military, as the daughter of an affluent family, Idalia wanted for nothing growing up. She was lavished with the most fashionable dresses, spent her summers traveling across the continent, and was granted the best private education money could buy. She was a blueblood and proud of it. Her life was charted for her and for the most part, she was happy to follow its direction.
When she turned 16, her parents secured her into an arranged marriage that took place largely under the table to a wealthy man from Gel'Grandal. It was to ensure a strong and respected bloodline, to keep their daughter pure so that their investments were not in vain. Her parents saw the potential in her to become the perfect wife: charming, docile, skillful in the way of societal navigation. They trained her well and when it was time, she was shipped off to one of the grandest cities in the world.
Two years later, at the age of 18, Idalia was married off to a man 8 years her senior, a rigid captain with a promising future in his division. Things within the home appeared well enough from the outside; the two were often spotted together at formal galas and upper class auctions. Idalia hosted parties at their estate and their home was well kept and decorated with skill. By the time she turned 20, she was expecting her first child, but the seemingly marital bliss was short lived. The child's conception was not a byproduct of her husband's vigor, but of his absence. Upon discovering his wife's infidelity, he blackmailed her to be rid of it.
When she arrived home, they simply returned to life as it was, never speaking on the subject except when she wished to bait his wrath in particularly cruel arguments. Paranoid Idalia's eye would continue to wander if she grew bored for prolonged periods of time - and for good reason - her husband funded a number of projects for her to oversee. He allowed her to renovate their home to better suit her tastes, granted her larger allowances for her shopping expeditions, enrolled her in any lesson he could which suited her fancy, and most recently, funded the creation of a small business venture where she could invest energy into proper society.
