Personality
This is, however, not always the case. In truth, Asher's mind is brimming with thoughts and observations, and to those he trusts these observations are often quite discerning. He is an intellectual man at heart, wielding a blade and the arcane as a method of enforcing the Empire's will, but with his own favored proclivities leaning towards the philosophical, theological, and all things between.
Appearance
Asher is mildly rugged, with strong stubble growing across his jawline, and slightly curly (but kempt) brown hair. He has hazel eyes which appear to moderate between a light brown and mossy green, and overall handsome, masculine features. Asher tends to dress inconspicuously; like a common man, white shirts of linen cloth, tied and untied by laces running below the collar, simple brown linen trousers, so on. If in wartime he will wear whatever armor is available to him, though he tends to operate on the premise of 'not getting hit' rather than bearing the brunt of blows, and so light armor appears his preference. In all things he appears to be a rugged minimalist, presenting himself as a survivalist, though one with the intimidating demeanor of a trained killer.
Asher has large, silvery black wings reminiscent of an eagle's, with a wingspan of roughly sixteen feet.
History
Unlike what one might conceive of a Kathar born to such circumstances, he never held any protestations around the life he was pushed into leading. He accepted the Imperium as his father, in a way, and found that its ideals were a closer and more pleasant form of company than anything he'd ever received from those connected to him by genetic link. The other Kathar that surrounded him were his brothers, and though many of them died, it was like that for a lot of peasants too, for different reasons. Life was brutal and painful, but it was also like that for nearly everyone else. He coped this way, but he also believed these things, and perhaps knew them to be correct.
Over time, Asher built a philosophy of his own, though it borrowed both from Imperial beliefs and the words of wise men that surrounded him. He began to believe in duty above all, adopting a pseudo-collectivist approach to -- ironically -- his own individuality, as a willing cog in a greater machine. He learned small things about the scientific world, and found that his own function related much to that of the fledgling grasp the Imperium had on biology, and cells; he was like them, an operative that whirred and moved from place to place without thought, disposing of threats, helping the "body" to maintain its function. He became cooler, his brutality no longer connected to any thoughts or reservations, his guilt and remorse dismantling year-by-year. And yet, ironically, Asher also became kinder over time. He became a virtuous man to others, the sort willing to go out of his way to help another in need; the Imperium's ideal of a man, never complaining, always seeking to dedicate his waking moments to the service of others, to the service of his nation. He took commands like a dog and never expected reward or compensation, though sometimes he got them. Sometimes he acquired curses with the veneer of a blessing -- magics, sources of greater suffering and conflict, but things he still adopted to fulfill his purpose and role.
And that never changed. Asher forged himself from a young age, and he followed his path to its full breadth. He made himself a blade of the Legion, and honed himself that way without ever questioning it, even now. Today, the man stands as a Knight much as his father once was, and though the man that created him eventually faltered, fled the Empire and was eventually hunted and killed, Asher remained loyal. According to the facets of his mind that he trusts the most, he always will.
