Personality
Asher spent most of his life as a wallflower, and for that time some would say his social skills remain somewhat underdeveloped. He is often quiet in the presence of others, appearing largely stern and unfaltering, and offering little insight into his perspectives or his own personal wellbeing. He is, as some would say, like a statue -- he remains present, impressive and unflinching, but often not immediately in view and with little more to offer than his austere company.

This is, however, not always the case. In truth, Asher's mind is brimming with thoughts and observations, and to those he trusts these observations are often quite discerning. He is an intellectual man at heart, wielding a blade and the arcane as a method of enforcing the Empire's will, but with his own favored proclivities leaning towards the philosophical, theological, and all things between.

Appearance
Asher is a tall, tan-skinned man. Given the ever-present extremities Kathar Avialae must endure in Imperial life, he has honed himself to perfection; he is strong, toned, broad and robust, his physique indicating clearly to onlooking eyes that he is a skilled soldier. Asher is muscular, and imposing; he has broad shoulders, with expansive, firm pectorals and a defined core. His body is both masculine and balanced, with powerful arms, thighs, legs, glutes and the remainder of his other muscles, his physique appearing to be trained for a balanced mixture of strength, endurance and agility. His physique is complimented by a coating of medium-brown hair, which runs down his chest and culminates at his pelvis.

Asher is mildly rugged, with strong stubble growing across his jawline, and slightly curly (but kempt) brown hair. He has hazel eyes which appear to moderate between a light brown and mossy green, and overall handsome, masculine features. Asher tends to dress inconspicuously; like a common man, white shirts of linen cloth, tied and untied by laces running below the collar, simple brown linen trousers, so on. If in wartime he will wear whatever armor is available to him, though he tends to operate on the premise of 'not getting hit' rather than bearing the brunt of blows, and so light armor appears his preference. In all things he appears to be a rugged minimalist, presenting himself as a survivalist, though one with the intimidating demeanor of a trained killer.

Asher has large, silvery black wings reminiscent of an eagle's, with a wingspan of roughly sixteen feet.

History
Asher was born much the same as he is now. Quiet, pensive, an ephemeral wallflower once precocious, now wise. He was born as any Imperial Kathar was -- to a relationship that did not really exist, but was expected by the military apparatus that surrounded him. His mother was not long for the world; weeks after he was born she succumbed to an infection borne of his conception that would not mend, and she passed from it writhing in pain, only her last moments those of peace. His father was a stern Knight, never present in his life, nor was he really meant to be or allowed to be. Asher was inducted into the life of a soldier from his very first, and he has followed that path ever since.

Unlike what one might conceive of a Kathar born to such circumstances, he never held any protestations around the life he was pushed into leading. He accepted the Imperium as his father, in a way, and found that its ideals were a closer and more pleasant form of company than anything he'd ever received from those connected to him by genetic link. The other Kathar that surrounded him were his brothers, and though many of them died, it was like that for a lot of peasants too, for different reasons. Life was brutal and painful, but it was also like that for nearly everyone else. He coped this way, but he also believed these things, and perhaps knew them to be correct.

Over time, Asher built a philosophy of his own, though it borrowed both from Imperial beliefs and the words of wise men that surrounded him. He began to believe in duty above all, adopting a pseudo-collectivist approach to -- ironically -- his own individuality, as a willing cog in a greater machine. He learned small things about the scientific world, and found that his own function related much to that of the fledgling grasp the Imperium had on biology, and cells; he was like them, an operative that whirred and moved from place to place without thought, disposing of threats, helping the "body" to maintain its function. He became cooler, his brutality no longer connected to any thoughts or reservations, his guilt and remorse dismantling year-by-year. And yet, ironically, Asher also became kinder over time. He became a virtuous man to others, the sort willing to go out of his way to help another in need; the Imperium's ideal of a man, never complaining, always seeking to dedicate his waking moments to the service of others, to the service of his nation. He took commands like a dog and never expected reward or compensation, though sometimes he got them. Sometimes he acquired curses with the veneer of a blessing -- magics, sources of greater suffering and conflict, but things he still adopted to fulfill his purpose and role.

And that never changed. Asher forged himself from a young age, and he followed his path to its full breadth. He made himself a blade of the Legion, and honed himself that way without ever questioning it, even now. Today, the man stands as a Knight much as his father once was, and though the man that created him eventually faltered, fled the Empire and was eventually hunted and killed, Asher remained loyal. According to the facets of his mind that he trusts the most, he always will.

MOTIF: PRISMATIC HARBINGER

Overview
Chromatic, rigid and bright, Asher's Rune of Reaving presents itself within a brilliant and blinding array of colors. Crystalline and brimming with light, this visual representation forms much of how his Rune itself manifests and operates within his aether-channeled weaponry.

Rune Location: The Kathar's Rune of Reaving is present atop his scalp, hidden by his hair. He was initiated by the Kathar Aoren, at the age of seventeen.

Opaline Radiance - Apprentice
All of Asher's Pact Weapons become prismatic in hue and brilliance, shifting their interior color to that of an opalescent quartz which radiates a wide, chromatic array. He is capable of manipulating this light with aether, using a small amount of aether to dim or illuminate his weapons, up to the point where they might project a powerful light that is difficult to peer into. In addition, the man's eyes have been instilled with a chromatic refractor for light, allowing him to observe and endure much brighter forms of light without being blinded or disadvantaged.

Primythesis - Journeyman
Asher's skin cells change, storing and reproducing chloroplasts within their plasma membrane. Each of these chloroplasts tend to be fairly small, and rather than one individual color, carry a blended, chromatic quality to them. In most cases, this change is entirely unnoticeable, but in the face of direct sunlight will result in a very faint chromatic sheen along the contours of his skin, particularly when flexing to reflect light. The result of this effect, aside from the very faint and circumstantial physical change, is that Asher can receive direct nutrients from sunlight. While only occasionally useful, this allows him to labor, exercise, fight and fly for extended periods of time if beneath the sun, increasing his stamina as the sunlight supplies him energy throughout.

Darkscorned - Expert
Asher becomes terrified by the dark, his Rune instilling in him a deep and unsettling anxiety when trapped in darkness. He must always sleep with at least a small light available to him, feels utter terror in the face of lightless caverns, and frequently manifests the intense need to conjure Pact weapons if only to radiate their light, which soothes him from the unknown terrors of surrounding darkness. If Asher remains in high levels of darkness overlong, he will become increasingly paranoid, reluctant and irrational, eventually culminating in a state of utter, deranged panic.

Darkscorned II: Wilt - Master
As a Master, Asher's weakness to darkness worsens. Playing on the chloroplasts within his cells, darkness appears to directly inhibit his cell respiration, slowly draining the man of stamina while within high levels of darkness. His skin will look visibly wilting as this effect worsens, to the point where it will appear slightly shriveled, the hue changing to deeper shades of brown, grey and even black. If accidentally exposed to high levels of darkness while sleeping, this can result in Asher awaking absolutely drained, forcing him to expose himself to the sun for hours at a time to recover.

Prismatic Shrike - Master
Asher's Kathar wings become permanently crystallized, an array of Pact Blades materializing along the wingspan, which appears to be of a crystalline texture and (unsurprisingly) prismatic hue. There are four sets of these Pact Blades, each of which counts as an individual weapon manifesting, the two corresponding blades on each end needing to move and launch together. During flight, these weapons will oscillate, precisely steering his aerial movements as well as increasing his speed, his stopping and his acceleration power dramatically above the Avialae norm. As each weapon comes off of the wings to be wielded in Myriad or Dancing, Asher's flight will decline in speed and fine manipulation, his wings becoming roughly equivalent to the Avialae norm at one set of blades. Upon reaching zero weapons, the wingspan will become barren, and Asher will only be capable of utilizing his wings for the purpose of gliding.

Launching and manipulating the sets of blades attached to the wing costs considerably less aether than materializing Pact weapons, or dancing, enabling him to consistently manipulate these blades at the expense of his ability for fine-tuned and accelerated flight. Asher may also re-attach blades to his wingspan, the weapons merely returning to the radius. In addition, this ability allows for Asher's wings to be re and dematerialized, though at the expense of aether, as all attached sets of Pact weapons must be appended or extricated with it.
