Born of the union of the middling noble maid, Iluthia Creth, and Adel von Maxium, Praverra Creth was one of the many children of the ghoulish progenitor. But without his name or his nobility, the young Praverra was forced to look elsewhere for her ambitions. Thankfully, the long life of undeath lent itself to her patient accumulation of power. Mastering both the social skills needed to navigate politicks in the Undead Empire and the arcane magics that would give her the capabilities to see her line extended across the world, Praverra eventually became one of the foremost of Maxium’s children.
So impressive was her work in the arcane that the ghoul earned the notice of the First Lich, Quetharax. Quetharax was said to have gifted her with a necromantic spell book. While this was never confirmed by the Matriarch of Creth, Their house has been known for powerful necromantic works for millennia.
During the Rise of the Clockwork Empire and the subservient Undead Empire, Praverra’s now extensive family of ghoul mages served with distinction and pride. By now their line to Adel von Maxium had been well recognized and they enjoyed the privilege of nobility.
Shortly before the Sundering, Praverra sent her youngest daughter, Emerande Creth and a contingent from the Clan to Ailizane to increase the influence of the undead there. Tragically, Emerande lost contact with Praverra and the rest of the Clan shortly after the Sundering and the collapse of the Clockwork Empire. With nothing else to do, Emerande began to grow her Clan in Ailizane and pursue the ancient Clan goals of a safe land for the undead.
Settling in Gel’Grandal, Emerande adopted a tact of extreme secrecy. She ordered her family to only eat of the dead, partaking of living flesh on very rare occasion or when a covert operation demanded the guise of vitality. It was with this covert mindset that she guided her family safely through the upheaval of Kathar Preed and the schism of the Avialae in Gel’Grandal. She brought her family through the trials of an active Hellmaw, and the birth of the Empire. Still they remain, waiting...
Currently:
Emerande and her Clan hold a relatively low profile position within the city of Gel’Grandal. Their secret compound is hidden peripherally in the city, with the family owned Mausoleum providing the bulk of the needed bodies and a secret entrance to the compound.
The Creth run a few nocturnal businesses both legal and illegal around the city with their lower status kin being most active while the more senior typically are left to the study of magic and the politics of the underworld of Gel’Grandal.
