Aeros and Mirza go hunting?

Apart from the two major metropolitan centers in the kingdom, The Atraxian Expanse is home to tens of thousands of Solunarians. Some of the Vastii still hearken back to their days as nomads, roaming the open desert and braving its many trials, but most have formed settlements along the River Vasta or around nearby oases. Most of these settlements in the present day are completely self-governing, but there are a few in the vicinity of valuable resources, which are overseen by representatives of the greater kingdom. Unlike the two fortified cities of Solunarium and Tertium, many of these smaller settlements live under the constant threat of desert squalls, droughts and attacks from desert-dwelling predators, like Tusk Titans and wild wyverns.

Mirza stood in front of the gate of Palaemon and Aeros' Umbrian estate, or more notably, that which belonged to their family. There were no servants or anyone for her to speak to, and the gate was closed. In her moonborn guise, she did not appear overtly interesting. After a moment, it occurred to her to scan the surroundings with Semblance — and quickly she found the magicked aura of an enchanted indent in the wall, which she pressed. The Sentinel that was assigned to her had been informed she was hopefully heading directly outside, into Atraxia, but he still followed her around nonetheless.

It took no more than thirty seconds for a servant to appear at the gate. "Can I help you?" They asked, and Mirza repeated the script she had been rehearsing in her head for the past three hours, her eyes wandering and nerves apparent.

"I have a meeting with Palaemon and Aeros, or, Aeros...well, both of them, we made plans... I'm Mirza." The script was immediately jumbled, but the servant seemed to recognize this request, and the gate was opened, and Mirza was ushered into their estate. Just as quickly as she was ushered inside, she was left in a beautiful sitting room and sat onto a plush couch. One man came by with a glass of water with a slice of lemon in it, which Mirza sipped thankfully, and offered a taste to Bird, who perched on myriad places in an attempt to get comfortable while her hands were otherwise occupied. She looked quite the sight, equipped with bow and arrows and light, layered clothing to provide some shield from the everpresent sun.

It took about fifteen minutes, but the original servant returned. "We have confirmed with them that you are expected. Follow me." Mirza brought her glass of lemon water with her, and through a decorated hallway, until the all-familiar portal was placed in front of her. She could see part of the outskirts of Solunarium within, and what amounted to little more than an elbow and a foot of Palaemon and Aeros waiting for her.

Sentinel Sandyr departed then, as she stepped through the portal — she did not need him to augment her camouflage in the desert. As she stepped into the portal, the desert wind blew her hair back, and she turned to Palaeros, a half-grin on her face. Now that she had left the glass of water inside and only had her waterskin strapped to her bag, she could hold Bird.

"Beautiful day to hunt deer, yes?"

At the end of their last conversation, Palæros had conveyed to his newfound half-dragon friend both the address of his family’s Umbrian estate and the next day on which he would be available. Neither soul could quite tell if the woman would actually show up, but both of them had hoped so for reasons both selfish and not. And when that day arrived, they didn’t have to wait long to hear from a slightly confused servus that a woman who he’d never seen before had asked after both of them by name.

Expecting this, he told them to go fetch his uncle, Hespæros, to allow for teleportation. Quick as doing this favor usually was, the other man would agree, teleporting all of them to the outskirts of the Luxium that was to be their initial startpoint for this small sojourn into the sands. Hespæros would close the portal to their Luxian estate and then open a new one to the sitting room in the Umbrium within which they’d been told that Mirza was waiting.

When the half-dragon, donning her moonborn guise, stepped through the portal to join them, Palæros would regard her with an amiable smile and Hespæros’ gaze looked curious…he’d have questions later, but for now, his features would shift to match the other’s. Palæros was dressed in a pale sort of shimmering gold this time, and with far more fabric than before– likely to protect his skin from sand and sun both because this time, he intended to be out a bit longer. And unlike last time, he carried a bag with him; it wasn't large, but it was enchanted; it could hold far more than it looked.

When Mirza spoke, Hespæros would eye his kin with renewed interest. “Hunting, huh? Fascinating, was all he’d say, but the quip stirred something in Palæros.

“That was the intent…yes,” he’d respond, and while it wasn’t actually the case, it’d be easy to mistake the discomfort from the other man teasing him as something like hesitation.

Say goodnight, to the weakness that you hide behind
Leaving the lies, leaving the fear inside
Never once were you truly alive
So scream all you like, no one can hear you
