PC Status Restoration

Hello there!

About a couple of years ago I had resolved to request Patrick as a Companion NPC for another PC, Rickter, while I worked on his story and have had a few fun adventures with Patrick overall. Recently, however, I have grown to desire to resume writing him individually as a PC again, and would like to put in a request on going about restoring that dynamic so that he can explore plots on his own. I've the entire catalogue of his involved threads stored for reference as needed, and more than happy to discuss the antics of how we would handle this NPC to PC conversion process.

Before we progress forward I would like to ask you the following questions:

1. What is your reasoning for converting your CNPC to a PC?

2. What about this CNPC or his story could not be done with another new PC instead? In other words, what benefit is there to turning this CNPC to a PC that you could not gain from creating an entirely new PC?

Thank you for getting back to me on this! I understand the necessity to posit these questions and am more than happy to elaborate on both of them.

Patrick as a character has always been rather dear to me, and regrettably, the struggles I've had originally stem from the period of his creation at the time. As a PC he had assets and plots that I wanted to pursue, but due to the transition Ransera took (as he was pre-beta update) made the conversion of those resources a bit tedious.

So in the long run I approached the conversion to CNPC hoping to keep his concept going as a supporting character, but in that time I've grown to feel inspired and reconnect with those ideas that made him who he was as a PC. This made me realize that I had the motivation to renew everything he started with, from before the new direction Ransera took. I wanted to build up from that using the current resources we now have abundantly available on the forum.

I know that, honestly, I very well could try and start fresh with a new PC to tackle these concepts. However, as a character that's very dear to me enough to feel that he deserves his own personal growth path, I feel it wouldn't be as satisfactory to invest such time and energy in a newer concept; not when Patrick as a source was intended for these plots and ideas originally.

For clarification Patrick has been restored "as is". All threads in which he has appeared in as a CNPC can be referenced, but he receives no XP from those past threads. He also cannot do any memory threads in those seasons he was a CNPC. This is to maintain consistency moving forward.

From Ash 124 onward Patrick is considered a PC. Have fun!
